Anybody watching Stevens melt down on C-Span?
He just asked if it was unethical to try to find a way around a filibuster. He is screaming that Clinton killed his ANWR bill when he vetoed it ... AFTER he had made a deal about it with Tsongas. Tsongas has been gone for how long? Yet, he still expects that deal to be honored by those that weren't part of what ever deal he made?

What a maroon this guy is. He is physically getting smaller as I watch.

Everything that has ever happened to us and everything that will ever happen to us will be the Clenis's fault. So says Ted Stevens!

I really have a hard time deciding which repub puffer-fish is the biggest and most full of hot air. They are all so full of themselves and one-track minded (is that a word?) that they can't see past the end of their nose.

He just can't think of the right think to say to get ANYONE to back his actions. In a way, he is a polar bear on an ice flow. He knows he will drown, but damn, ain't the view grand!

27. Stevens is an a$$hole. Did ya catch the brief (as in nanoseconds)
the blurb a few web sites (I caught it on www.huffingtonpost.com) the other day that Stevens' son-in-law owns a large parcel of land on the island where the "Bridge to Nowhere" is going to come ashore? The A$$wipe's daughter and SIL stand to make huge amounts of money selling needed tracts to the government not to mention the development that will arise in stores, homes, gas stations, etc. that will follow.

Methinks the SIL maybe has benefited from a little insider info in purchasing just the right tract of land. And it ia just a complete consequence that one of Stevens main donors is the construction company that is tagged to do the major construction of said "Bridge to Nowhere."

There is no punishment in hell bad enough to give this bunch of neocons their due. I have visions of Satan himself having to set aside a special room for Chimpy, Cheney, Frist, Rice, Rumsfeld, Stevens, (the list is endless) so that Satan won't have to worry the neocons will out evil him and take over.

32. It's not Stevens' son-in-law
(that's a different asshole). It's Representative Don Young's son-in-law that owns the property on Point McKenzie, the terminus for the Knik Arm Crossing from Anchorage to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The other bridge is from Ketchikan to Gravina Island where their airport is located. Just a point of clarification.

35. Thanks for the clarification. Sometimes the "crookedness" of the neocons
gets so incestuous that a person can't keep it straight without a really big sheet of paper and a flow chart. A cast of thousands in the Party of Corruption - all bought, evil and nasty.

He also broke the rules to get some Katrina relief in the bill. He wants to "spread the wealth" according to him. He is a nutjob.

He also said he broke the rules to ass some Bird Flu appropriation too.

He was just a rule breaking fool where this defense allocation was concerned.

34. Tony Knowles
He's the only Democrat from Alaska I know that lost to a republican by such a low margin(Murkowski only got 49% not a clear majority) So if Stevens runs for re-election in 2008 we can get him about his latest outburst in the senate and committee.

Tony Knowles for U.S Senate in 2008

33. Stevens is still pissed at John Kerry
who got Tsongas' seat when Tsongas retired in '84. Ted Stevens got completely pissed at Kerry earlier in the year on the Senate floor and 'called him out' on his opposition to ANWR: (3/15/05)

There is no question there has been a lot said here that is misleading. I have in my hand something given to me before I came to the floor. It is from our colleague JOHN KERRY. It says:

The Republicans are trying to sneak legislation through the Senate approving oil drilling and they are incredibly close to winning.

It goes on to say some things here that are absolutely not true, but it does pinpoint seven of our colleagues and asks for people to call them and put pressure on them now. It asks for an emergency donation right now. What for? We are going to vote tomorrow. I do not know why they need emergency donations.

Beyond that, it says:

Of course, the Arctic Refuge supports more than wildlife. For a thousand generations, the Gwich'in people of Northwest Alaska and Northwest Canada have depended on it and lived in harmony with it. To them, the Arctic Coastal Plain is sacred ground.

They do not even live there. They live on the South Slope of the Brooks Range. The Gwich'in people have nothing to do with the Arctic. The only thing they have to do with it is they harvest some of the caribou that come up the Porcupine River and go up to GPO's PDFthe North Slope about every year. But several years of the last 10 years they have not come up at all because they are hunted so hard by the Gwich'in people in Canada that there is not enough left of them to travel. The misinformation here is staggering, really staggering.

SNIP

I ask unanimous consent Senator Kerry's flier be printed in the RECORD after my remarks, so people can see the depth to which people are going to accuse us of somehow doing something wrong.

Ahm, I think Ted does not harbor any fond feelings for John. Pity that. Somebody needs a hug.

38. You wouldn't believe the hateful campaign ads
that were run up here by Stevens and his cronies to defeat Tony Knowles ... the implication being that if he were elected, the state would be handed to Tom Daschle, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton on a platter. There was a very concerted last-minute push to paint Tony, who is really a very centrist democrat, as some kind of raving liberal. It was pathetic, but it probably resulted in Lisa Murkowski's election.
