Scotty, Did the president meet with the New York Times . . . ?
just answered at press conference;

"I'm not going to talk about that"

"There are a lot of conversations the president has about national security, and I'm not going to get into that."

3. Is there a website which tracks the percentage of "no comment" remarks?
I'd be interested to view these statistics...

The TIMES told him to bend over place his head between his knees and kiss his ass GOODBYE. BWAhhahahaha

6. The Times is negligent for having sat on the story for more...
...than a year. This ALL could have been avoided.

9. Exactly
In fact, NYT stories are still being released that maintain that the scope and broadness of this surveillance went so far as to include environmental groups, anti-poverty groups and animal welfare groups.

When does it end and what MORE will the NYT "graciously" permit us to know what they know?

10. Yes and no
perhaps they should have released it earlier last fall, when the outrage over his cronyism at FEMA was at its highest. However, last year, too many people still believed in this oaf and his committment to fighting terriers and would probably have bought his explanation that spying on Congressmen, judges, media figures, and DNC insiders was a national security issue.

I'd be terribly interested to find out just why they released it NOW and not two weeks ago or at the first of the year.

13. It is NOT up to the NYT, if they were really a credible news outlet,
to determine whether the story would help OR hurt bush or anyone else politically, their role, if they were ethical, are simply to report the facts as soon as they know them.

7. It still boggles my mind.
The NYT editors summoned to visit Bush in oval office and they go and he tells them not a good idea to publish story about spying. That's pretty scary to me.

11. didja ever hear Johnson in the WH tapes talking down editors?
He also had a sweetheart relationship with Katherine Grahmn after the death of her husband.

It happens.

8. Do you suppose journalists are a wee bit jealous of the NYT influence?
Imagine being a nose-to-the-grindstone reporter and bush gives you his standard supercilious treatment, addressing you with his ridiculous nicknames and making light of your serious questions. Then you find out that he has a one-on-one meeting with two head honchos of your rival newspaper.

Wake up, journalists, your house is on fire!

12. I have no doubt the shills from the NYT told bush that a book
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 01:20 PM by Spazito
was coming out about the illegal actions, that they couldn't stop it's publication so, in self-interest only, they will publish the story. If the book wasn't about to come out, the NYT would have continued to cover bush's ass on this and the truth would NOT have come out from them.

Edited to correct a BAD typo!
