How Long Till Fitzgerald Digs Into Bush on Spygate?
With Conyers moving to investigate, and a clear violation of federal law on the hands of the Chief Executive, how long until Fitzgerald expands his investigation to include charges of illegal eavesdropping by presidential executive order?

1. He would have to be assigned the case by the US AG just like
fitz was assigned to this one by the US AG.

2. Just like Ken Starr was assigned to investigate everything he did?
I get the impression he can investigate pretty much any allegations of wrongdoing at this point, no?

4. Starr was assigned by the republicans to investigate EVERYTHING.
That just wasn't what they were telling us.

3. There'd have to be a Plame-Snoopgate connection.
And while there very well could be, he'd have to establish that connection before he could start investigating.

I think Fitz has his hands full right now. The CIA Leak case may be leading into an investigation of the White House's abuse of pre-war intel. That's a lot to chew on.

7. What about monitoring of communications of Wilson/Plame?
The likelihood that Bolton and/or others might have been using this executive order to monitor Joseph Wilson has been raised here at DU recently.

I think it's entirely likely that this power would be used to keep tabs on players with the potential to harm the administration.

9. If there's reasonable cause there, I think Fitz could then move in.

5. he can't
He doesn't have carte blanche. His "charter" so to speak is to investigate "the alleged unauthorized disclosure of a CIA employee's identity." While he can also investigate efforts to impede or interfere with his investigation, he can't reach out to investigate unrelated violations of law by the executive branch.

8. This is not that much of a stretch.
If you had given yourself authority to monitor communications, and people like Joseph Wilson were working to put your administration in jeopardy, would you simply ignore their communications?

Not if you're these clowns, you wouldn't.

10. I wonder if
the "PRESS" has considered whether they've been spied upon. So much for "confidential sources".

I do hope Fitz looks for the connection to Plamegate.

11. I can't imagine that he wouldn't.
And I'd be shocked if they didn't use this to their advantage.
