Watching republican after republican get up and say
be afraid, pass the patriot act and wondering what its going to take to get through their thick skulls that we aren't afraid. They're really getting boring.

1. The problem is, they ARE afraid.
it is fear that drives people to become conservatives. These are the people that have burgler alarms and triple deadbolts on their doors while their liberal neighbors sleep with their windows open. Their brains are wired to be hyper-sensitive to threats, real or imagined. They live in constant fear. That's just they way they are. It's not that they went looking for the next enemy after the fall fo Communism, they didn't have to go looking. Their brain wiring sees enemies everywhere. Conservatism is a mild to moderate form of paranoia.

9. I've posted that link many many times on DU...
so much so that I have this idea everyone must have seen it by now. But maybe it needs another go around, if you want to post it.

12. It was news to me!
And I've been here awhile. When the board is moving fast, sometimes the good stuff sinks into oblivion before it's time so, please, never hesitate to repost. And, of course, there are always the newbies to consider too.

Great link...I'm grateful to have read it! Thanks!

10. I must respectfully say that I disagree with this for at least myself.
I'm extremely safety-conscious and security-conscious, and I'm a staunch liberal. However, I realize that I may be an exception to the rule.

I think that my fear is one reason why I'm a liberal. I want to make sure that people who have less than me also are safe in terms of having food to eat, a safe place to live, health care if they get sick, a safe environment, etc. It scares me horribly to think of large groups of people going without these things. (I get really scared when I think of the Depression and what people had to go through then, and I fear that it will happen again in the not-so-distant future given the way B* is handling things.)

7. We're NOT afraid of them
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 07:27 PM by C_U_L8R
we see them for what they are...
mean thuggish playground bullies
who are spoiling everything good,
oppressing everyone not like them
and strongarming their way with those
they percieve weaker than themselves.

Well... we're NOT afraid of republican bullies
and we will vanquish them the way
bullies have been dealt with for all time...

with a sharp powerful punch to the nose.

Just try it assholes... we're ready.

children and their children's future, the basics of life, steady income, community, truth, the potential in their lives.

It is all of our collective leaders who we have to fear - along with their devoted followers who facilitate their power. I fear my own leaders the most and never have I feared any as much as I fear these psychopaths who surround around their marionette as they advance their cause.

13. And you know what?
If the Patriot Act is not renewed and we do get hit by terrorists like the anthrax killer or the DC Sniper, Republicans will all get up & say it was because the Patriot Act was not renewed.

Heck, if the Act is renewed and we get hit again, Republicans will all say the thought we might kill the Patriot Act emboldened the terrorists to strike.
