Christmas, Hanukkah & Kwanzaa presents for our Troops?

I want to organize something for our Troops at my Culinary College.

What kind of cookies, candy or cake would keep in the hot heat for two weeks. The only thing that I can think of is FRUITCAKE.

(We could put a picture of Dumbya on the wrapper with the word Fruitcake underneath it...Just kidding)

I don't have any kids and I would love to send the boys and girls some gifts but I am poor right now.

How about some used books that we have laying around our house and cookies and fruitcake?

2. I'm not sure homebaked is practical

I asked the lady who started the organization that I signed on with to adopt a soldier serving in Iraq, about homebaked goods. She said non-perishables are best because homebaked would probably not make it. I think it's great you want to do something for them for the holidays, but just remember that the cut off date for mailing to Iraq to make sure they receive it for Christmas is November 27th.
