i went to have my nails done today and my nail tech who also
owns the salon gave me a x-mas gift. it was a gift certificate for a pedicure. i have my nails done every 2 weeks and a pedicure every 4 weeks. inasmuch as i don't give x-mas gifts or celebrate it i don't know what to do. she's vietnamese and catholic. even though she's the owner my nails cost $15 and i tip her $5. when i get a pedicure one of the other girls does it and again it's $15 and i tip $5.

so i don't know whether to get something for her although i feel i'm giving all year with my business.

any thoughts????

1. You don't have to do anything
use it and give her a little extra tip when you do if you want to.

She's making sure she gets return business.

2. At least $20 -
Sounds like you rely on her and her prices are very reasonable.

I am generous to my hairdresser ($50) for getting me in nearly any time I need and same with the dog groomer. Also tip the paper deliverer. I figure they make squat when all the costs of doing business and staying competitive are considered and the fact that I can reliably count on them for good service means a lot.

4. She appreciates you! How nice! You don't have to do
a thing, but do you want to? Are you friends? My sister has had a nail tech for many years, and they exchange gifts.

thinking of maybe sending something from 1800flowers.com like maybe some chocolates. kinda perusing through now. i won't see her again before x-mas. i live kinda far from the salon so i'm thinking about having something sent.

she is vietnamese and although her english is pretty good, sometimes it's hard to communicate. but i like her and all the girls that work there are very sweet.

7. With what you're tipping I'd give you a free pedicure
But maybe sometime take in a Fruit Basket or something that everyone at the salon would enjoy!

10. i want to thank all of you at DU. even a little thing like this, you're
always there to help with suggestions. i know that if i got up in the middle of the night and posted that i was depressed and was going to commit suicide (which i'm not about to do. lol), i know that within minutes there would be responses with people helping me out. it's a very comfortable feeling to know that you guys are always there 24/7. again thank you.
