Merry F*ing Xmas every one. Santa doesn't slide down the chimney anymore...
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-12/21/content_3949694.htmBEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- A Santa Claus worm is attempting to trick users of major instant messaging networks into clicking on a file that delivers unwanted software to a victim's computer, a security firm warned Tuesday.
The Waltham, Mass.-based IMlogic said that the worm, dubbed "M.GiftCom.All," is circulating on the MSN, AOL, ICQ, and Yahoo instant messaging services, is a "Medium" threat, a relatively rare classification for the company. Most IM worms and Trojans listed on its Threat Center receive only a "Low" classification.
The worm attempts to dupe IM users into thinking a buddy has sent them a link to a harmless Santa Claus file. People who click on the file will see an image of Santa, but what they are less likely to notice is a so-called rootkit being installed onto their system.
So, no friendly IMs for awhile
