Bird flu sure got put on the back burner all of a sudden like
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 09:57 AM by NNN0LHI
I haven't seen any stock videotape of chickens flapping around with some guy wearing a mask trying to catch them in a long time. All them chickens recover or something?

The newsreaders are all smiling and happy again too. No more grim faces to go along with the chickens video and the you all be afraid of the bird flu music or nothing? WTF?

The Tamiflu market must have played out? Wonder how long the stuff is good until the expiration date comes and everyone will have to purchase a new supply? Maybe the cable news shows will all drag out the crazy chickens video and accompanying scary bird flu music when that happens? I can't wait.

3. When you're fighting for your political life, you'll try anything.
Now they are spending all their time trying to justify spying illegally on AMERICANS.

4. Big news today is a school bus accident and the small plane that crashed..
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 09:49 AM by NNN0LHI
...several days ago. Very little reporting on spying on Americans. That appears to be going the way of the bird flu to the media. Coming up on CNN is an expose about Asian women who want surgery to make their eyes rounder. Now that is some important stuff there!

8. Mission Accomplished. We have won the war on the flu
And, I'm sure you know the next steps in the process:

"The war on the flu is still going, and it will be a long, indefinate process. No one ever said it would be fast or easy"

"The war on the flu is, well... I don't think you can win it"

"When I spoke of the victory over the war on the bird flu, I was speaking specifically about that strain, and not about the War on Disease in general"

"It is disturbing that my opponents are so invested in defeat, that they now say that we can't win the war on the flu. We need to stay the course"

13. So whats that make 70 deaths from bird flu since it was identified in 1959?
Be afraid. Be very afraid. And buy more Tamiflu too. Rumsfeld needs the money.

15. But not on the back burner, is it?
And there was also the news that some mutations in the H5N1 virus mean it looks more likely to become transmissible between humans: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-12/19/content_3940875.htm

16. Yes back burner
The cable news channels have went from non-stop saturation bird flu coverage to school bus accidents. And if it ain't on cable TV it ain't happening. Simple as that.
