An Easy Way to Keep America's Poor Warm
You already may have seen the headlines about how Citgo, unlike every other oil company in the U.S., is making cut-rate heating oil available to struggling families in the Northeast. The Energy Department predicts a nearly 26 percent jump in heating costs this winter compared with last year, and despite a year of record oil company profits, the country's heating oil assistance fund is falling behind.

Citgo has stepped in to help out. They're selling heating oil at discounted rates to poorer communities in Massachusetts and the Bronx, NY, and working on deals to keep low-income homes in Rhode Island and Vermont warm, too.

So while you're out on the road this month, you can help some fellow Americans by filling your tank with Venezuelan gas. Here's a link to find the nearest one of the 14,000 Citgo gas stations in the U.S.:

2. Another Citgo locator
If you're like me and don't want to be bombarded with e-mailed requests for action all the time, skip the True Majority link, and visit the citgo website http://www.citgo.com/CITGOLocator/StoreLocator.jsp

True Majority requires you to enter all your info (i.e., subscribe) before you can actually see Citgo locations. I admire True Majority's work, but I had to send them umpteen unsubscribe requests before they finally acted. They sent far too many e-mails for my tastes.

4. I don't think there's anything wrong with them.
True Majority does good and important work. I simply was not comfortable with the number of alerts I was receiving on my primary e-mail address (which is a work address), and it took them a month to respond to my unsubscribe requests.

That's all I'm saying.

That, and there's no need to use an intermediary website to locate a Citgo station, when one can get the info directly from Citgo's site at http://www.citgo.com

Or go to any 7-11 for Citgo gas.

7. Or all the books that the "in-te-lectculs" like to read
Already try to go to Citgo. We have one gas station in town and he switched to Citgo last year himself. Texaco was pricing him right out of business!
