1. Why Would It Matter?
If you rob a 7-11 it does not cease to be a crime because someone else robbed the same store a couple of years ago.

3. Among the righties, yes. Apparently Clinton is the gold standard of
presidents.

There's a story about a warrantless search of Aldrich Ames's house.

He didn't go on national television and declare it his right and vow to keep on doing it.

12. It had to do with Aldrich Ames
So start there. It was something about the FISA law only applying to eavesdropping, not searching through papers and such. Clinton signed a directive after ordering the search that FISA applies to house searches as well as wiretapping overseas.

All this is not that interesting, though. The stuff with Clinton all involved foreigners, NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS. Clinton never ordered spying on American citizens, overseas or not, without a warrant (as far as anyone seems to know).

Don't let people trotting out Carter and Clinton executive orders confuse you. None of that stuff applies to American citizens, only foreigners and stuff between foreigners. If Bush ordered listening on citizens without warrants, those executive orders do not apply.

14. I started researching this back in 1999.
Use certain words in e-mails and phone conversations and even then the warning was that you would be monitored.

15. no, no and no. He used FISA, that's what they meant.
There is not one instance where Clinton didn't return to the court to get a warrant.

Once again the freepers are being used by being force-fed half truths by their cynical rulers.

Cite any reliable source that indicates any prosecution, conviction, or attack detection stemming from such wiretaps of "United States persons" please.

20. By the same logic
Using that logic it would be acceptable to put every single Middle Eastern person in the US into a detention camp until they die. It might prevent a terrorist attack so it's ok.

If you don't like civil rights may I suggest that you move to a country where you don't have any? This is my country and I WILL defend her against the likes of you.

Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 05:18 PM by Hyernel
Clinton was able to protect Americans WITHOUT breaking the law and violating the Constitution.

Clinton was also able to win a war, overthrowing a vicious dictator, without getting any U.S. Troops killed...but that's why he was da MAN!
