So Cheney comes home to vote to CUT Social Security!
That is just what the Dems need to trumpet. Cuts in student loans, social security, and other social service were what Cheney flew home to vote for.

3. The only cuts in SS that I know of are in Doctors fees Medicare will pay.
It's about a 3 - 4% cut if I remember right.

If there's more I'd truly like to know about it since my husband and I are both disabled and on SSD.

10. The problem is
Doctors do not get much for treating patients on SS now. Pretty soon Doctors will just start refusing to treat patients on social security because they do not make much money and the paperwork also adds to their expense. A lot of doctors presently are not taking new patients if they are on social security so before you get near that age make sure you have a good doctor who you've been with for a while. Sad but true.

11. Yes, I know they don't get much... we get their bill for the difference.
I haven't run into doctors not taking new Medicare patients although there are some who won't take new Medicaid patients once they hit a quota.

We just bought a house in a new area and the trouble I'm having finding a doctor isn't because of Medicare... it's because a whole bunch of doctors licenses were recently suspended in a huge local prescription scandal and the doctors left are going nuts picking up the patients left hanging and are prioritizing by "need". Hopefully the county will be able to attract more doctors soon since this has created a rather frightening shortage up here.

As for "get near that age"... Medicare and SS is not just for a certain age. My husband and I are both disabled and have been on Medicare and Social Security for years. I was only 29 (in '89) when I was diagnosed with MS & went on SSD.

12. Do you mean medicare when you say social security?
or maybe medicaid?

You have me more confused than usual.

A doctor wouldn't care whether a person is getting a social security check or not. It has nothing to do with whether he gets paid or not.

14. Sorry - I mean medicare
I meant medicare, the medical insurance program people are entitled to when
they reach sixty five or so - the age may have gone up for eligibility, I'm not
sure. I know my mom recently had surgery. The surgeon billed her $8500 and
medicare paid him around $1400 and her supplemental coverage paid an additional
$400. He cannot receive the difference from anyone, even mom.

Our own doctor, who is also our friend for twenty years says, they make very
little on medicare patients and now another percent is cut from what they
receive.

5. the bushes (because i include poppy and bubba in this too) and cheney and
the condosleezy woman... they are a re-enactment on earth of the fallen angels who wanted to be more powerful than God. If it were possible for us to visit heaven, as we visit other countries, they would be wanting to take it over and its power.

yet ...they forget that they key to heaven has something to do with bearing witness to and being on the side of the poor, that perhaps reducing the 95 billion dollars in tax cuts that go to the riches in the nation (themselves and their pockets included) might do something towards giving them a peephole into heaven.

not as likable as Mr.Burns.
