Is There Oil In Europe? Where Does Israel Get Its Oil?
It all about oil, right?

Does any european country have a significant oil industry other than the North Sea?

And while I'm wondering about oil, how on earth does Israel get any? I don't think they have any oil fields of their own do they? Somehow it doesn't sound likely that any of the middle-east oil countries have taken Israel under their wing to supply her needs.

1. Unfortunately the mid eastern countries do not stick together
They could bring Sharon to the real peace table in a New York Second
if they forced him to it

6. Yeah, then maybe he'd do something like disbanding settlements...
Oh, wait.

He is doing that.

Wow, guess he's been at the peace table all along, huh?

7. Yeah, that'd be nice.
Because they've got such a lovely record of never bothering Israel.

9. European industry now runs on oil,
like most of the industries in the world, because it's more energy-dense (more efficient to use) than oil.

Oil can be made from coal but that won't make the oil any cheaper.

10. How About The Cars?
They had a lot of pitchblend in Belgum too, but you can't run all those Mercedes and Porches on nuclear power either. Just curious.

5. Egypt of all places
Israel gave up oil fields for a peace treaty. In return, Egypt agreed to sell Israel about 1/4 of her imports. Russia is now a major supplier.

8. European oil fields are past production peak,
meaning their production rate will drop and continue to drop.

Yes it's all about oil (or more generally: resources). Resources * labor = wealth.

There are no significant oil fields outside the North Sea that i know of.

I'm not sure about Israel, but i'd guess that where there's international oil trade, anyone with lots of money can buy oil. Also i seriously would not put is past the oil Sheiks to sell to anyone who can pay.

14. I'll supply some old info
In World War II the Germans got their main supply of oil from Rumania.

They also used lesser oilfields in Hungary and even lesser in Austria.

Don't know if that info means anything in 2005.

The Germans last major offensive of the war, which came after the Battle of the Bulge was in Hungary and it was an attempt to retain the Hungarian oilfields which were vital to them keeping the war effort going.

This was just a few months before the war ended.

16. Oil from Norway and the UK
coal from South Africa and Columbia. I think they are self sufficient in natural gas.
