Whenever workers strike or people take to the streets or a progressive populist wins an national election or even if PETA hits the headlines, there is a widespread campaign to discredit, marginalize or simply nit-pick away at them. The attacks run the gamut -- from outright lies to half-truths to petty assertions that they should not have acted in that specific way or allied with specific others.
The actual subject, or which battle is being fought, or the cause being sought -- that doesn't matter to the attackers. When "business as usual" is threatened, the same crew come out to denounce "extremists" or "disruptors" and the discussion gets turned to minor details, and the bigger issue gets lost. David Brock has explained how this con game is run.
The bigger issue, of course, is corporatism, fascism, monopoly capital, big brother.
Call it what you will, but whatever it is named, it is not human in any way. It is a monster that knows only how to eat whatever lives, and it grows larger every day. It continues its murderous, plundering rampage across our planet. It destroys even the air we breathe and poisons our food and water. It turns whole nations into killing fields and it thrives on scarcity and human suffering.
The only question, really, is "Which side are you on?" The side of life and freedom, or the side of the monster? The monster can only be destroyed if we fight, and all who fight it deserve our gratitude and support.
There are those who suggest that we should not support or participate in those fights unless they are "done the right way." They say we should not support or participate in such fights if it seems anyone less than perfectly pure is among their supporters. They say it is a lost cause, a wasted effort. They say whatever they can to divide us and discourage all signs and acts of solidarity. Whatever the details, the message is the same. Don't fight here. Don't fight there. Don't fight that way. Don't join together.
Knowingly or not, those who say we should not support those who fight, they serve the monster.
