Grenade used in TX road rage case
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/122205dnmetroadrage.64f76a7.html

Police took a woman in custody after she allegedly threatened a driver with a hand grenade during an apparent road rage incident Tuesday afternoon near Central Expressway and LBJ Freeway.

A motorist called Richardson police just before 5 p.m. to report that a driver in another car had displayed what appeared to be a grenade in a threatening manner.

Richardson police tracked the suspect vehicle to Belt Line and Shiloh roads in Garland, where they found 41-year-old Kimberly Al Homsi coming out of the parking lot of the Brighter Horizons Academy in Garland where she had just picked up her daughter.

"As officers approached the car, they saw what appeared to be a couple of hand grenades inside the car," said Richardson Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich. Harn said the bomb squad determined the devices were actual grenades, but did not contain any explosive material. However, they also found ammunition inside the vehicle.

1. Central Expressway and LBJ Freeway are
Always pretty darn crazy to drive along during any rush hour afternoon anyhow.

So, whilst I'm not condoning this grenade incident, I can actually understand how some people might lose it and get into a road rage situation.

Heck Mr. Bluebear!! I was saying that along that stretch of road during the afternoon rush hour I can understand how a certain type of person would have a road rage situation.

Don't start getting uppity Mr. Bluebear...or ah'll have to whip mah paddle out onto your butt ;)

Whooping from mah paddle then...just as well, because mah paddle has someone further down's name branded into it. Ahem.

Yes I agree, hand grenades in car are not good. As we ALL know, it's FAR more sensible to have a 12-Gauge sawn-off in your vehicle instead :)

7. No kidding..seems like a good time to keep a **low profile**
while hauling grenades (with or without the explosive stuff inside) and ammunition around. Geez, to think **I** get nervous at the wheel when I realize that I forgot my driver's license at home.

On a more serious note, look at the lady's last name. How soon before she and her family/spouse have their house raided and torn apart by the feds and they end up getting shuffled off somewhere??

"bomb hoax" but it "could be upgraded to making a terroristic threat".
They found ammunition and a rifle in the trunk, all being legal, per cops. Apparently, when she showed the other driver the grenade, she pulled the pin out.

She is being held in jail now down in Richardson.

BTW....this is the city that had the Holy Land charity (headquarters) organization ..the building that was raided a week before 9/11 by the feds. At the time it was just another local news story, then 9/11 happened and it just made you want to go "hmmmm...."

to Dallas, as you know. For example, we can't get the mini-nukes here in Dallas County yet. I guess that's why we're considered "cosmopolitan" compared to Ft. Worth

Actually, I think Laura Miller is negotiating a deal in order to get Dallas up to date, part of that deal is 7-11's AND Walgreen's being allowed to stock mini-nukes...and I think I heard that they'll be allowed to stock some Tomahawk missiles too!

So don't fret, Miller will have you up to date in no time.

you gotta be pretty pissed to reach for the hand grenade over the shotgun alot of Texan's carry. In this person's case I guess "close enough" does count in hand grenades and horseshoes.

27. I think choked interstates make people angrier than superior mass transit.
Would this be happening if there were enough light rail lines, street cars, and a generally modern public transit system that ran on time instead of these monstrous interstates gridlocked with cars and trucks?

Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 01:36 AM by RGBolen
I actually had a Richardson police officer standing beside my car one day looking at the back window. When I got to the car, I just asked "can I help you?" He looked at me then looked at the rod and reel that was against the back window and asked "Just what is the fishing pole for, sir?" I actually sat there for a second trying to figure out what concern he could have had about it, and just said "it's in case I happen to run across some standing water." He just said "well, ok," and walked over to his car.
