"I want to thank Scotty for saying & he paused for effect. . . .Nothing"
Unanswer Man
Scott McClellan Is the President's Spokesman, Which Doesn't Leave Him Much to Say

By Mark Leibovich
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, December 22, 2005; Page C01

On the Thursday morning after his reelection in November 2004, President Bush bounded unexpectedly into the Roosevelt Room of the White House, where about 15 members of his communications team were celebrating. He just wanted to thank everyone for their hard work on the campaign, he said, before singling someone out.

"Is Scotty here? Where's Scotty?" Bush asked, half-grinning, according to two people who were in the meeting but asked not to be quoted by name because they were discussing a private event. Bush scanned the room for Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary.

"I want to especially thank Scotty," the president said, looking at his aide. "I want to thank Scotty for saying" -- and he paused for effect. . . .

" Nothing ."

At which point everyone laughed and the president left the room.

1. Dear George - you may not have noticed, but America is a democracy
We demand to know what our government is doing in our name and with our tax dollars.

You and your administration have been weighed and found wanting. You are failed.

Resign now or face impeachment. It is the will of the people you were supposed to be serving.

2. You know Working for Bush must Suck
He seems like such an asshole to people around him; I'd feel sorry for them, except for the fact that they choose to work for him.

4. Actually there is humor in watching ....
however its not laughing at some stupid attempt he has made at being funny ,its to me the whole picture ,this guy is so much out of his element ,so much over his head ,and he cant even think straight enough to remember what he was going to say then he tries to cover it up with some lame attempt at being funny and its funny and sad at the same time , however Iam never laughing at his off the cuff remarks as being funny ,Iam laughing at him , he is truely a perfect exmple of what could beconsidered the all time worst of the worst president ! The sad part is the lives that this has cost ,nothing at all funny about that, I believe the repugs are going to regret for a long time coming ever putting this guy up on the pedestal they puy him on ! Thenext 3 years you will see their support drop and drop and drop . Right now its painful for us Dems even having this guy in office ,however a repuk Pres a repug congress ,and senate and guess what ,we have never been more screwed up! Now if we can get some truth in reporting ,its the beginning of the end for the repugs IMHO

6. It's like watching the Miss America talent portion...

Y'know those contestants who don't really have any talent so they take up baton-twirling? Whenever I see them drop that damn baton I feel embarassed for them. I feel the same way when Junior tries to make a joke.

I laugh my ass off at the chimp-meister every day...

i just meant that he's not funny when he tries to be funny on purpose.
(except that snortle of a laugh he makes when he cracks himself up)

I guess it's all funny in a sense.

8. Note that Leibovich's article twice uses the term "hostage."
First there's a reference to McClellan's robotic delivery, very like a hostage reading a statement, and then there's a quote, if I'm not mistaken, about McClellan being held hostage to the agenda, or something of that sort.
