1. Yeah, but I'll bet he zipped his pants up
No more waving his dick around to scare the powerless. They fought back.

2. He's acting ticked off and that pisses me off
He had breakfast with business leaders and they've been hurt by the strike. The working man means nothing even though they make the city work.

5. Macho swagger and tough on crime rhetoric
so even though crime generally tends to go down when Dems are in charge, corruption is reduced, and wages improve, they still look for tough guy pubbies to clamp down on street crime.

6. The local media are all repug
They give the repug candidates all the good press, because the repug candidates are all very rich and buy a lot of advertising.

It ends up making a difference.

8. Because the republicans pour rediculous resources into winning it.
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 03:57 PM by K-W
And they control much of the city media.

They know they cant control NY, but they can win a mayoral elections with thier superior resources and institutional advantages.

9. Squeegie guys , homeless and property crimes
republicans run on "crime control" and even though MOST crime is "poor-on-poor", the news media makes everyone scared and they gravitate towards people who make them feel "safe".

They could actually save money and BE safer if they elected people who would address the root causes of the "street crimes"...poverty..

A well fed, well-housed person with a job and a future is unlikely to be accosting you at the ATM or climbing into your window while you are at work.
