VIDEO-Mark McKinnon on why Bush can ignore the Constitution
this is Bush's PR guy-and this is their argument

If you listen, you'll hear the "detect" rather than "monitor" that Bush was pushing the other day. So, they could just spy on all library transmissions without a warrant or probable cause and ignore the constitution because it's more important to protect people.

IF THAT WILL BE SO, then henceforth, I want Bush to STFU about our freedoms, our democracies and the "they hate us for our freedoms"

But I guess that's the plan: If the Terrists hate us for our freedom (instead of our sucky foreign policy), and Bush takes our freedom away, then they'll stop hating us and leave us alone, right?

2. "No attacks the last four years, they must be doing something right"!!!??
Huh??!! The first attack was a set up. Why not just crown Bush king and be done with it??? "Some guy in some library on a computer emails someone in Afghanistan or Iraq to blow up the Pentagon." Carnivore already shifts through all this kind of stuff and has for years, long before Bush ascended the throne, was appointed, whatever. Carnivore looks for specifics related directly to terrorism and not what vegans are having for dinner or where PETA will strike next!

5. That "logic" is totally warped.
The fact that there have been no attacks in the US in the last four years is meaningless. While it's possible that some attempts have been thwarted, it's also possible that al-Qaeda (assuming MIHOP isn't a factor) is just taking its time. After all, seven years elapsed between the first and the second WTC attacks. Anyhow, we can safely assume they've known for years that their communications are being monitored. The reality is that Bush is looking for an excuse to eavesdrop on anybody he wants, including political enemies -- just like Nixon did.
