I know Jon Stewart & Colbert needs breaks BUT
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 02:04 AM by Protagoras
on weeks like this (despite their roles as a comedy show hosts) I think they could phone the show in over a phone while white static played and we'd still be happier and better off than we are with reruns.

WE NEED CURRENT SATIRE FOR THIS WEEK'S EVENTS! COME BACK TO US JON AND STEPHEN!

8. Every six weeks. Rain or shine. You could set your report card schedule
by Stewart's breaks.

4. Now Protagoras...
We, in our vast and infinite respect of these comedy gods, must understand Jon and Steven need some down time.

5. I'm willing to give them off um...
January 14-28 if they come back tomorrow and just spend an hour making hay of the Bushco Spy scandal.

Like I said, I'd be willing to watch a blank screen if they just phone it in :dilemma:

11. It Takes A Lot To Do That Kind Of Show
It's not just Stewart and Colbert that make that show go...it's the writers, producers and a lot of "little people" who make things funny and flowing. This takes both time and money...and is draining on all involved...especially when they have to do this 4 nights a week for weeks on end. Look at how empty SNL has become due to its lack of quality writing talent...the Daily Show, along with Letterman, IMHO, have the best writers in the biz and they're what makes the show so good and worth the wait.

This is not a News show...but a series, contracted for a certain number of shows. The show has more is common with a sit com than it does CNN. Instead of doing these shows over a period of 13 or 26 consecutive weeks, like a series does, they spread it out over the year. The game is hit or miss as it seems Jon always is off when something good really happens. Again, I appreciate the quality and consistency of the show. Earlier tonight I ran across a video from '97...on it was a Comedy Central promo for The Daily Show with Craig Kilbourn. Now we wouldn't want to relive those days would we? :shiver:

Merry Holidays...
