Bush tells us we ought to keep more of our money.
So how come middle class tax rates are going up, while the wealthy elite's are going down?

Aren't we included in that phrase? All the republicans I know of seem to think think the same, and they're middle class.

Off-topic, since when do people with money get to influence those who don't have it? That defeats the purpose of a society in general...

1. The only 'people' he cares about...
are his rich friends at the top. The rest of us aren't even fully human to him.

4. Yeah, that "we" he is talking about only includes the country club,
corporate jet, a half dozen holiday homes, set. Not us plebian types....

6. Exactly
If you're not a member of the "haves" or the "have-mores", you can forget about it. * has no time to be concerned about you, unless you're willing to go fight his war, that is.

8. Nah...he wants us to have more money.
Money to spend at the gas pump, on heating bills, groceries, etc.
That way, his big business buds end up with more of it.

The hell with the poor, who suffer the most, with "tax cuts".

9. It's a big shell game, but the pea gets handed under the ...
... table to the rich.

There was a tax burden shift under Bush. That's the key. Tax rates in all brackets were reduced, but the rich are in all tax brackets, including the top tax bracket. So a reduction in all brackets gives "everyone" a reduction for which only the rich are eligible. Also, Bush's estate tax cut gave only to the rich.

The screw job to the middle class is hard to notice because it is buffered by deficit spending. Middle class people didn't notice that their share of the tax burden has gone up under Bush because their taxes appeared to go down. They didn't make the connection that a CBO report commissioned by the Democrats explicitly made.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61178-2004Aug12.html

The middle class is now carrying more of the government and more of its debt, including the accumulated debt prior to Bush. Bush didn't try to sell his plan by saying that the rich are paying more than their fair share of taxes and should get a break. He didn't say that the middle class are paying less than their fair share and should get an increase. He just played the middle class for rubes. They still haven't noticed.

10. So maybe we should.
We should stop paying taxes into this Operation Halliburton "war", we should stop buying up all the foreign cheap plastic crap for the holidays, we should start riding bikes instead of buying gas for our giant cars, and we should grow our own food.

I think he's totally right.

11. and we're paying more to the gas companies and electric companies
bushie is an idiot.

He wants to funnel billions to his rich buddies -- which means he needs to have lots of middle class tax payers and at the same time he is culling middle class taxpayers -- by off shoring jobs -- or job elimination etc etc etc.

The longer he and his buddies are in office the longer we will be in hock -- paying for their lifestyle of looting and plundering. I doubt that the generations now living can pay his debts -- it will be up to the next generations.

And what will his slutty daughters be doing??

12. I notice everyone wrings their hands over the "middle class"
Why do no Democrats talk about fighting for the lower class? It's Dems fighting for the middle class, Repubs fighting for the upper class... Ummm, who's fighting for the lower class?

14. Money is power
For the question of 'when do people with money get to influence those who don't have it' they control the country so they control the flow of money. We get influenced everyday by ultra-rich people, they make the trends and guide us to drink more coke or pepsi.

It always amazes me how Repukes yell and scream about social programs and then turn around and take a shot a social engineering on a national level. Most Societies are governed using a hierarchical system with the ultra-rich at the top and Katrina victims at the bottom.
