'Lethal Document' That Could Lead To Bush Impeachment Next Year
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 02:32 PM by G2099
“I have introduced a resolution creating a Select Committee with subpoena authority to investigate the misconduct of the Bush Administration with regard to the Iraq war and report on possible impeachable offenses, as well as Resolutions proposing both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney should be censured by Congress based on the uncontroverted evidence of their abuse of power,” said Rep. Conyers in a statement released this week regarding action to be taken when Congress returns after the Christmas break.

Besides specifically detailing the many Bush administration federal violations concerning Iraq, Rep.. Conyers severely scolds and attacks the administration for its “arrogance, hubris and wrongheadedness,” highlighting the dangers of a one party rule in Congress and a lack of check and balances on President Bush who is acting more like a dictator than a President of the people.

7. It changes nothing. Democrats can say all they want to, but...
...they still don't have the votes. This so called "Lethal Document" will die quietly in committee.

8. Exactly...
...Unless Dems gain the majority in one of the houses, NO impeachment will ensue. bu$hit will get away with this, just like he's gotten away with everything else.

13. Aw, come on! He knows that. We know that. But it doesn't mean that
these things shouldn't be said, shouldn't be proposed, and shouldn't be publicized!

The same thing could be said--'why bother?'--for voting, with the situation as it is now, Bushite corporations tabulating all our votes with "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, and virtually no audit/recount controls. Should we NOT vote? Should we NOT support candidates? I don't think so--not yet anyway. Maybe there will come a time when we have to boycott the election process. But meanwhile you fight--for fairness, for transparency, for accountability; you educate people; you look to the mechanisms of people power, and try to outvote the fraud with sheer numbers, or, at the least, monitor elections, gather information, challenge the results and give them hell about it. And you try to light a fire under the insane, stupid or corrupt Dem Party leaders who let righwing Bushite corporations get control of vote tabulation.

You don't give up. Despair is the path to slavery. Stand up for your rights. Never, never, never give up!

15. I don't think the OP does know that.
His words and smilies make it look like he thinks that the impeachment is a done deal.

16. I don't say ....
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 11:43 PM by Triana
...we should give up, or not speak out, or not publicize, or whatever. I DO say don't expect much to come of it in the form of impeachment - unless:

1. Democrats take the majority of one of the houses in 2006 AND;
2. Democrats grow some cajones, backbone, and UNITY

Should we RAISE HOLY HELL meanwhile? YOUBETCHA. Until that two-bit cretin is OUT of OUR house we should keep him under a white-hot microscope and loudly document every illegal, murderous, unconstitutional thing the wiley little germ does.

19. Bush Step Down and Take Your Program With You!
Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.

Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.

Your government puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.

Your government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.

Your government suppresses the science that doesn't fit its religious, political and economic agenda, forcing present and future generations to pay a terrible price.

Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion.

Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.
