Merry Christmas Everyone
Just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. My house is quiet right now (not for long though), so I put on the Christmas music and looked around and thought about how fortunate I am. It's been really hard for me to get in the Christmas spirit this year, thinking about the horrible time that the victims of Katrina are having, and all the families who have lost loved ones in Iraq too. How sad their Christmas must be. But then, I think about our Grandkids (6 of them, from 12yrs. to 17) and I think we need to try to make Christmas happy so they will have their happy memories. I dread what they face in their futures. So this year, I will do my best to help them have a happy memory. I'm cooking the turkey and ham today and tomorrow we'll have left-overs. Pretty soon it will be like a mad-house here. We have four (adult) kids and 6 grandkids. They will all be here except for one, he came up for Thanksgiving but can't be here for Christmas but we'll be talking to him on the phone. So, the turkey's in, christmas tree has lots of presents under it, and Christmas music is on, and I'm 'gonna try to focus on this Christmas as a happy time for the kids to remember. Anyway, enough rambling here. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

5. getting into the christmas spirit has been so hard for everyone ...
it is as if bush has not only decimated our national treasury, our good will, our PEACE garnered during the Clinton administration; the course of our entire world ... it seems as if he has dried up the well of hope, and joy that comes with christmas.. Of course the well of Hope and Joy can never be dried up if we think of it as the gift of the Newborn Babe ... but he (bush) has made it very hard for anyone to feel connected to that Spring of Hope and Joy that is the Newborn Babe.

May He, the Newborn Babe, give you (and the rest of us) the rest to be connected to His Spring of Joy and Hope--even in the midst of the hoplessness that the bush boy has cast us all into.

so,in that same spirit, i say, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO!

8. Merry Christmas!
This evening my hubby and I will have a picnic on the beach and watch the sunset.

Tomorrow we'll have some friends over and barbecue. Thursday our family will all be together and we'll pretend it's Christmas Day and open our presents. it will be good to have everyone here, even if it is a few days late. :-)

9. Same to you, Shamrock!
I'm baking a pound cake right now and will bake another one later this evening (one to keep at my house...I just loves me some pound cake!). I am to bring the potato salad, yams, egg nog and cake for our christmas dinner. I'm lucky, the stuff I have to bring is easy to prepare. :-)

13. They're not
telling me what to call Christmas! They can call it whatever they want. I've always said Merry Christmas and I will continue to do so.

18. Merry Christmas to you and yours. It's nice to see so many
"Merry Christmas'" tonight on the DU. We must respect all faiths, beliefs, and non-beliefs. If not, it makes us no better than those on the other side who are righteously judgmental of all who do not believe exactly as they do.

I pray for peace on earth and good will towards all men this season and in the coming year.
