So what's the plan for Chalabi now that he was blown out in the glorious
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 06:03 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
exercise of democracy in Iraq...

Can we surmise that the purpose of his recent visit to D.C. and Cheney & company was to plan for this scenario and engineer the next few twists and turns leading to his inevitable assumption of the real or "shadow" throne in Iraq?

Reaching out to that all-powerful .3 contingent.

2. He's been visiting Iran a lot. Maybe after we bomb that country to
pieces they'll try him there and see if he can do better,

6. I think the purpose of his recent visit to DC
was because Fitzgerald called him to testify or for an interview. The rest was just for show in order to distract from the real reason why everyone suddenly had to be nice to the guy.

In regards to what the plan is now for Chalabi, start civil war is probably close to the top of his list at this point.

7. Wouldn't testifying to Fitz be a strictly voluntary thing for him? Is he
a U.S. citizen?

9. Yes, it would have been voluntary
but he wouldn't have much of a choice. Either cooperate and get it over with and hope no one notices or force Fitzgerald to issue an order to try to force him to testify, which would cause a big stir in the media.

8. He may visit his investments in Kirkuk (Kurdistan) Iraq for now...?
I understand he's got development interests there. And since a Kurd oil field has come in, I'd expect he'd be on that one like the proverbial huckster he is.

10. The election next time
4 years until the next elections. The 2009 elections are just over the horizon. Scoff if you will but consider this: the insurgency has disbanded, the Americans have left, the Iranian regime of President NUTBAR has been driven from office, Bush is in prison, the OIL is flowing and the religious Shiite government of Iraq has failed. Enter Chalabi.

Or is this the eggnog speaking?
