10 of the top stories of 2005
Edited on Sun Dec-25-05 10:11 PM by Bluzmann57
We were talking about some of these things over a delicious dinner today. First thing I must say is that I am blessed to be around progressives in my family. My sister and brother in law, as well as both parents are more or less Liberal, progressive, whatever label one chooses to use. Secondly, this list was extremely hard to narrow down to just 10 incidents as the administration gives us new material every day, or so it seems. But here we go anyway, not neccessarily in order of importance.

1-Katrina and the administration's bungled aftermath, which is still going on. Screw the poor, or so they say.
2-This recently broken story about the illegal wiretaps. Somehow, I believe that this may be the breaking point.
3-The indictment of DeLay. This guy is pure shit and should be flushed.
4-Cindy Sheehan. Maybe this should be the number one story of the century so far, the way one solitary woman made a lot of people realize that the Iraq invasion has no real purpose.
5-Scooter Libby gets indicted. Merry Fitzmas everybody.
6-The situation in Ohio with "coingate" and all the related stuff around it. Could we be getting closer to the truth about election fraud?
7-John Roberts is the Chief Justice of the U.S. Man that really sucks and maybe I shouldn't have brought it up on Christmas, but it is a reality.
8-Randy "Duke" Cunningham gets convicted on bribery charges. He tried to sell off the U.S. and got caught. Boo friggin' hoo. Bye bye Randy.
9-Terri Schiavo dies. And Frist is one hell of a doctor as he diagnosed from the Senate floor that maybe she wasn't quite as bad as many other doctors said she was. And the lady was important enough to cause lawmakers to drop everything so that they could kiss the asses of the "pro-life people, er I mean, rush into an emergency session to attempt to keep her hooked up to artificial life, aka, no life at all. Of course, they don't have time to rush into any other pressing issues, as the alleged pro life people don't care about other stuff.
10-Schultz and Franken get air time on Armed Forces radio. Now I realize that a lot of people don't like one or both of these men's shows, but this is sort of important, in my opinion. It strikes a blow for free speech. Besides, Senator Tom Harkin had a lot to do with it and I just thought I'd try and get a plug in for him.
Well, this is one simple man's opinion. Feel free to add, delete, or whatever you want. Happy Holidays everyone!
On edit-DSM and the fact we are still in Iraq with no forseeable change should be in there too. Thanks to the poster who pointed this out.

1. Sheehan or Katrina should have been Time's "Man of the Year"
They took a safe route.

Very good list. Thanks.

3. Good grief! I feel like an idiot.
That most certainly should be on the list. Thank you for your contribution.
