US has never been less admired in NATO Europe, nor president more despised
December 26, 2005
How Stands the Empire?

by Patrick J. Buchanan

When it comes to empire, we are – in a phrase Bush used to hear often growing up in West Texas – "all hat and no cattle."

And whether we invaded to liberate Iraq from a brutal tyrant, or to strip a dangerous regime of WMD, or to establish democracy, does the world appreciate it? Does the world really want America to democratize mankind?

A new Zogby poll of 3,900 people in six once-friendly Arab nations finds that, when asked to name the leader they detest most, 45 percent named Ariel Sharon, but Bush has moved into second at 30 percent. Tony Blair was a distant third at 3 percent. No one else was close.

Because of charges that we used secret prisons in Europe to interrogate jihadists and EU airports to transfer them there, the United States has never been less admired in NATO Europe, nor its president more despised.

4. Hmm tough question
Yes we got hit in Penang and Kedah area but cannot even call it a small scratch compare to what happen in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
All affect in our area got brand new house most fisherman got brand new boat.

So far in Indonesia only about 20% of affected people has brand new house. Going to be a long tough road to recovery in affected area.
Lots of people don't want to go back.
Reason ..... damn scare of ghost.... very superstitious lots we Asian.... much rumour of woman searching for child and lots of wandering ghosts.

7. Interesting. I'm glad you're doing OK in Malaysia.
That's a good point about superstition. I dated a Grenadian (Caribbean guy) for several years. Island people are very superstitious.
He was part of the upper class of the island (Deputy Governer General dad, doctor brother, real estate agent in-law, politicians...religous : Baptist & Episcopalian) but there is a culture of superstition....

Peace. CB

Things that go bump in the night.
However Asian tends to believe that when a person dies in a tragic way the spirit get confuse and does not understand that he/she is dead hence the haunting.

Many story about that all over especially from Thailand Andaman coast.

2. I bet bush never heard that phrase
all hat not cattle while "growing up in west texas" because he spent most of his time in prep school in MA and never associated with people who had hats or cattle. He can't even do a credible imitation of a Texas accent.

5. Boy I was in Europe
as a college student while Reagan was in office. It was pretty bad then. The Germans especially thought he was going to get them all killed and the French wouldn't talk to us at all.

6. And yet rightwingers still believe
That the world felt contempt for Clinton and therefore for the U.S. during the Clinton presidency and that Little Georgie has restored their respect for us.

Those who know better simply dismiss the opinion of the rest of the world. We're Number One! We're the greatest that ever was! We're always morally correct! We don't need anybody else!
