Christmas will be be canceled until America actually acts like Christians
pending further notice, all celebrations of the birth, or death, or resurrection of the Prince of Peace will be suspended indefinitely until each and every one of Christ's admonitions is followed to the letter, feed the poor, clothe the naked, employ the unemployed, love thy neighbor and thy enemy, don't torture prisoners, give up your excess wealth and pass it around, and pray quietly at home, oh, and stop killing innocent men women and children by the thousands, and i think that pretty much covers it.

until we all behave LIKE Christians, then there's really no point in pretending we are a Christian nation, and there's no point celebrating Christmas.

1. Oh, piffle.
Christmas will continue, despite the actions (or lack thereof) of Christ's followers. The real challenge is to the clergy: It is time to speak out, to re-claim Christianity as Christ taught, not as the fundies like to believe. (At least, that's what I preached about Saturday night.)

But we'll need the help of the laity to get this done. It doesn't help the church one bit if the laity simply walk away in disgust.

6. Hey, Rev,
practicing what you preach helps go a long way in having your flock follow-and I'm sure you do! I know a fellow I'll call Rev. Ken-always a smile on his face, always willing to help anyone out, no matter who they are. Non-judgemental, even when his daughter "lived in sin"-interestingly, said daughter is now married and a staunch church goer. You'll never know this fellow unless you live in the small town where he resides. He's not rich by any means-seems he always is giving away stuff to others--but his wealth is in the Light that shines from his soul.

3. the problem is that the United States does act
like a Christian country. In America, Jerry Fawell and Pat Robertson are the living embodyment of Christianity.

5. You meant that sarcastically, I hope
I could name you some folks who I believe are living embodiments of Christianity, and neither one of these bozos is on the list.

4. But if we do all that,
we'll also be behaving like good Muslims, Buddhists, and most other faiths are taught to behave! If only we could get ALL people of ALL faiths to follow the teachings of their prophets, saints, and masters!
