No one has ever argued that Hussein never ever in his reign possessed WMDs. He used them on Iranians in the war in the 80's, and on Kurdish resisters. The thing is, by the time 2002 rolled around, there was simplky nothing left to threaten anyone with. A decade of Scott Ritter's inspections, Clinton's targeted bombings, and the embargo essentially eliminated the threat. Bush's biggest lie was that Hussein was STILL a threat, when in reality he had nothing at all.

When I'm in that mood, and responding to them in private, I personally enjoy to smack 'em down with an only partly faked superior attitude and hints of higher intelligence, since it plays right into their notion of us 'damned elitist libruls' and pisses them off even more. Undeniability is your friend. Hyperbole and overstatement are fatal in political debate. And while Bush has done many bad things, he's not even close to Saddam Hussein in terms of number or severity of people tortured.
