Love is all you need

Just watched this video and it came up with some great ideas. Basically, love is all you need. We try to fight for peace, we must peace for peace. Love everything even your enemies(ie. republicans), how will they ever know how to if we don't show them. Just a thought.

I'm not that cynical; I say they were on to something there. At any rate, until Jesus, the impoverished step-son of a lowly carpenter, came along, all social reforms throughout the years had been proposed and implemented by people from wealthy families. Sometimes it just takes a privileged, thoughtful person to take a look around at all the poverty and despair, say "Man, this is WRONG", and then do something about it.

Can "Love" protect the country from another terrorist attack? Will "Love" curb pollution? Is "Love" the answer to America's voting irregularities problem? Is it like food stamps; can the poor go to a welfare office and pick up some "Love Stamps?"

Nice sentiment and all, but this soft-headedness (a tepid left-over from the hardheaded lucidity of the 60's campus leftists mating with their apolitical drug-scarfing counterparts) will be the death of the left.

Specificity, discipline, infrastructure, strategy: THAT'S what we need.

Looking at the big picture, Love with a capital "L" just might do some or all of those things. Love in its many forms spurs resulting action.

Can "Love" protect the country from another terrorist attack?

It can help. Acting with love, rather than greed and empire, does not breed terrorism. Interacting on a global level with respect, responsibility, and empathy can reduce terrorism, and in that way, help shield the planet from acts of terror.

Will "Love" curb pollution?

It sure will. Love of the planet, love of clean air, water, and soil, love of ecosystems and the incredible interrelationships that make us a part of them...that love will help curb pollution.

Is "Love" the answer to America's voting irregularities problem?

Love of truth, freedom, equality, integrity, and democratic principles; that's the path to the answer.

Is it like food stamps; can the poor go to a welfare office and pick up some "Love Stamps?" No, not quite. From love springs empathy, compassion, generosity, and the unwillingness to allow others to suffer; the willingness to care for all.

I do live off of love. If I didn't love what I do for a living, I'd hate my life. What point is there in that kind of living? Survival in order to be miserable?

Love clearly will help all those things, because loving is caring. If republicans don't know that element of human behaviour where will that change begin without people demonstrating compassion to them.
