the conservative attack on universities and colleges
this thread in inspired by this earlier thread.

i wanted to provide some rudimentary information about the conservative focus on higher education and show that it is a concerted long term effort.

the following links provide just a surface sketch of both conservative and neoconservative assaults on academia -- some of goes back to the nixon era{familiar names like weyrich, mellon scaife pop up}.

*this one is goes beyond horowitz's attacks on higher education and makes some very definitive links.

this is a conservative commentary documenting neocons attacks on traditional conservatives among other things.

1. The essay from the CofCC was really illuminating
It describes the rift between the paleos and neos to a tee. And serve to remind how both groups are just awful in their own way.

4. Exactly
It's all about education. When someone is educated on everything they're more than likely to vote with their own mind. Bill Clinton said this last year on the "Daily Show" and I think it's true: "democrats win when people think." When people don't think they put their religion in place instead such as with abortion and gay marriage. It's really scary how they're purposely trying to dumb us down. Remember the whole thing with Kerry of how people "couldn't" understand him? I did perfectly fine. But try to find the film "Brainwashing 101." It's a conservative film about how the professors are trying to pin liberal ideas into them and they supposivley harrass conservative students. They did not do anything to back their claims up like Michael Moore does in his film(s). So as far as I'm concerned until they show some sort of proof it's all hearsay (they had one democrat in the film and a dozen conservatives). YOu should try to find the film. It's scary.

3. Karl Rove was instrumental in the growth of the Young Republicans
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Rove, Grover (what a name) Norquist, Abramoff and other like thugs and criminals turned college campuses from places of free thought, to places of right wing extremist propaganda.

9. Interesting. And all share the same belief -
That the big fish should have the right to swallow all the little fish, or at least starve them to death.
