Poll question: Osama bin Laden: Dead or Alive
I say he is dead or we would have seen a recent videotape of him. I say he was dead from some point before the grainy, blurry, videotape of the Osama impersonator that someone found in a house in Kandahar was made.

1. I vote "Yes".
The pResident said he wanted Osama dead or alive and I firmly believe that he is.

2. I disagree
It's probably kind of difficult to get fresh video tape in whatever cave he's hiding.

5. remember that he needs dialysis
and if he were in fact hiding in a cave, he would be dead from kidney failure.

6. Bullshit, he's dead.
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 09:33 PM by morstyranni
So is Saddam.

It's easier to prove you're alive, then it is too disprove you're dead. Where's the irrefutable video evidence? There isn't any because they were both blown to bits of burnt well-done.

11. I think you're right about Binladen, Saadam I'm less sure about...
I just don't believe that there's any way he escaped Tora Bora by 10 minutes on camel back. Saadam on the other hand I believe is alive because we found his sons.

17. Let's hope...
because those two sure as hell deserve it. As much as I hate what Bush did with Afghanistan and Iraq, I can't much complain about the people who he "went after" there. People like them make me hope that I'm wrong about religion just so that they're burning in hell right now.

19. Oh yeah,, the first thing I'm going to do, if the worlds
most sophisticated intelligence community is looking for me is stick my head up and make about 3 dozen public speeches.

We could have had Osama, but we were more interested in Perle's "new Roman empire."

7. No its not...
...why would it be difficult? Hell, a cheap digital videocam would be all that would be required. Maybe they can't afford the batteries, right? And an SD chip is small enough, well, it's small enough that it could easily be transported across borders. Off the shelf technology. No, he's likely dead, and the DIA is still using him to advance the Fear Factor...

3. Dead or very ill.
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 09:36 PM by FlashHarry
If he were alive and well, we'd be seeing videotapes of him holding today's USA Today every bloody week, just to get under GWB's skin.

I'm guessing he's dead--or he's recovering in a swanky hospital in Ryadh and doesn't want his ascetic followers to see him watching Joe Millionaire on cable TV.

On edit: I think the other posters are correct when they say that OBL is far more useful to the Admin's agenda 'alive,' since our craven media doesn't call Mr. Bush on his 'promise' to 'get' OBL.

4. 'super villains' are much easier to control when they're dead
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 09:45 PM by ixion
and the fact that bin Laden mimicked Bush about Iraq being 'the new front' in this ridiculous war on abstractions leads me to believe that he died some time back.

8. I firmly believe he and Saddam are kickin' on the back 40 in Crawford
sucking in the foul air of the pig farm, living lavish off the taxpayers, just waiting until George is desperate and needs them or their bodies to boost publi opinion that is close to rivaling Nixon at his demise.

14. I hate to say it, guys...
he's very much alive. In his latest cassette tape, he makes a reference to the new Palestinian prime minister, who I believe has just resigned, or is about to. So he's definitely "dated" his tape.

Also, don't forget this is not a poor man. He's got $$many millions$$. He owns his own satellite. If he's living in a cave, you can imagine what it must look like....

16. Is John Hinckley dead?
He performed a similar function, his Dad is also one of Poppy's buddys. Why would Osama get different treatment? If you're a thug with a reputation of popping your perps you run out of perps damn quick. I seem to remember something to the effect that Osama was a CIA op for over a decade and was in the American hospital in Dubai in July of 2001. And then there was the frustrated FBI chief who had the goods on him but quit to become head of security at the WTC, whatever happened to him? Oh yeah, bug-juice at the bottom of the pile.

Osama might be dead but IMHO the BFEE had nothing to do with it. Perps with a terminal illness are as rare and valued as say, Jack Ruby perhaps.
