Last week, Olbermann called him on that. Said it sounded like the religious fundies like the Taliban.

Gibson denied he said any such thing.

Tonight Olbermann played the clip to prove he (Olbermann) had told the truth about what Gibson said.

I knew it had to be good! Wish I'd seen the clip.

MSNBC years ago and talked/screamed about Clinton and Monica on a daily basis with his equally screaming panelists. I like him even less now that he's on Fox (a perfect fit for him), so I just avoid him.

I actually didn't mind his show when he was on MSNBC during the Clinton/Gore years. But since he's been on Fox, he's your typical repuke whore. Early on, I even attempted to defend Gibson here....boy did I get my ass chewed out! :)

Usually a problem with the cable news channel is that they're too interested in moving things along, but Olbermann really went through the story of John Gibson's deceit and tacky "wrong religion" comment from top to bottom.

However, that whole thing tonight made me uncomfortable. Keith was uncharacteristically angry and cold. I understand why, but I prefer him when he is making his point with wit and sarcasm and humor. Some people who are good candidates to convert may simply be turned off by this approach, IMHO.

I don't think Keith was uncharacteristically angry and cold. If you want to see angry and cold, see his "The 'City' of Louisiana" rant sometime. Or even his antismoking rant after he had a benign tumor removed from his mouth and decided that after 27 years it was time to dump the cigars and pipes.

I thought Keith did use a lot of wit and sarcasm--at the beginning, at least. He got serious when it was called for, toward the end when he was not only defending his own honor (because he had been unfairly accused of lying and distortion) but also trying to make a serious point about people who claim only their religion is "the right one."

I have only the greatest respect for people who know when it makes sense to be sarcastically witty and when the time has come to take off the gloves and just punch away. I think other people do, too.
