Constitutional question
We are all fantasizing over the impeachment and removal of GW Bushit. Chaney will either retire or be a non indicted co-conspirator in a Bunch of Bushit.

My Question:
If Pres & VP are gone (regardless of the reasons) and Speaker becomes President. What happens IF the Speaker was from the opposing party??? Now I know Hastert isn't and this will never happen. The GOP brokers would do the same thing they did under Nixon //find a replacement, but What would happen IF it did follow Line of Succession?

1. Constitution is pretty clear.
The Speaker becomes President in this scenario regardless of party affiliation.

If we win back the Congress in 2007, you'll be saying President Pelosi.

4. President Pelosi sounds pretty damn good to me.
And it may very well happen.

5. interesting question
What if the VP (Cheney) is kicked out first. Can Bush pick a new VP before he is impeached? Thereby picking his own replacement? Or does this have to be voted upon by Congress or the next November election?

6. Yes, Bush can pick new VP subject to Congressional approval
This is what Nixon did (picked Gerald Ford after Agnew resigned when it was found out he was cheating on his taxes), and then Nixon resigned and by golly ol' Gerald pardoned Nixon!
