3. i have carried a pocket knife with me since I was 7 and a boy scout.
I use it every single day. I used to fly with it before these silly rules came out.

OF COURSE they should concentrate on bombs. And they should avoid shooting mentally ill people simply because they freak out on a plane.

ON any flight, there are hundreds of items that can be turned into a weapon. weather stripping, sharp objects, - just take a close look and use your imagination. Keeping knives off of planes does little for safety but it does accomplish, in their eyes, two important goals. The continued cowing of normal people, turning them into obedient sheep, and providing federal employment for many thousands.

I now complain each and every time I must take my shoes off. I now complain everytime my car's trunk is searched before I park in a commercial parking lot in Chicago. I now complain when I have to sign in, show ID simply to enter a commercial hi-rise in what used to be a public building. I now complain if I have to go through a detector to enter a store, fer x's sake.

This drip-drip-drip of so-called "security" has changed us. It has made us submissive, not independent. It has made us scared, not brave. It has made us unAmerican.

4. Maybe they know that four planes
weren't taken over with box cutters? Maybe that is just a BushCo myth?

5. Sorry, but they're right.
Small knives, box cutters etc. will NOT be enough to do that again. You can bet that if passengers see a few guys with knives, they'll take them out. Prior to 911 hijackers didn't kill everyone on the plane, the vast majority of hi-jakings ended with no one geting getting killed, so the motivation to stop them in flight was very small. That has changed.
