Protests greet Bush in Australia

<snip>

Security has also been massively beefed up in Canberra.

The Australian federal parliament building has been sealed off for Mr Bush's address on Thursday - the first time in history that the public have been barred from the building.

1. Well, Americans have been barred from public protest (by limiting
the protests to "free speech" zones where Bush's supporters have not been subjected to the same.
Hopefully, the rest of the world (Americans will never be exposed to this piece of information) will see the confirmation of this administration as divisive and controlling: remove dissent whenever possible and/or be so threatened by the hate they have engendered that they cannot show themselves in public without fear of attack.

2. Neocons know what they're doing is illegal, immoral and corrupt
They know that facing the populace means facing the outrage they provoke with their wonts for Imperial power. The Monkey King knows he is not of the people, for the people or even by the people. He is a tyrant, a dictator, and an incomptent oligarch.

3. That's just like something Dub's people would require...
And just like something a curmudgeon like Aussie P.M. Howard would do. Both Dub and Howard are oafs, and liars.x(

B-)

4. Hello, Australia?
This is what happens when you DON'T ELECT your head of state. You can be kept out of your OWN BUILDINGS. Maybe this is why y'all passed a law that makes voting mandatory?

Meanwhile, back in the US, The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

5. When the U.S. ambassador to Australia
Promised Aussies would be in the front lines, he wasn't talking about the parliament building.
