CNN not reporting anti-Bush demonstrations on Australian visit
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 02:51 PM by glarius
Watching CNN you would never guess that Bush is not exactly getting the red carpet treatment by the citizens of Australia and that part of the world....I guess it's more important to breathlessly report, every few minutes, about the guy who went over Niagara Falls, Ontario....

He actuallly said,"Of all the people in the world who understand Texas, it's probably Australians."....hahahaha

2. That's because everybody, everywhere loves him
The only people that hate him are a the Democratic, liberal extremists here in the US. This makes them traitors, of course. They probably shouldn't even be considered citizens.

I mean, really, did you actually expect them to mention it?

5. Especially here in Michigan...it's all "Guy from Canton who went
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 02:52 PM by MrsGrumpy
over the falls" all the time. What he thinks, what his friends think, what the neighbors think, what honeymooners at the Falls think, how cool it is that there is a "Michigan connection" (bum bum BUM....) ad nauseum. Although Bush did say he was glad to see "Democracy was alive and well in Australia". His catchall anti-Bush demonstration phrase....:puke:

6. I'm sure they'll ignore us
in DC and SF on Saturday as well. If a protest falls in a media vacuum, does it make a sound?

7. cnn.com
I have been checking cnn.com in vain for the past hour...no mention of Bush's visit to Australia, let alone protesters. I've emailed them to ask about the omission of this story (another email that will go unanswered...sigh). Can someone tell me what's wrong with CNN and what news source I should check several times a day instead? Thanks!

at DemocraticUnderground.com, of course! We have a crack team here culling sources from all over the globe and posting links to the ones that often fall through the cracks.

12. What's wrong with CNN, adriennel,
Is that they, like ABC, CBS, NBC and Fochs, decided sometime in the spring of 2000 that they would support bu$h to the same extent that they had previously opposed Clinton. I guess this is what happens when you have five corporations who effectively control everything that is seen, heard and read in this country.

It wouldn't be any big deal for five CEOs to decide they were for bu$h come hell, high water or logic, since they stand to benefit hugely from his corporate tax breaks and his "stand" on further media consolidation.

As to where you go for news several times a day, you're here. Welcome!

Kill your TV before it kills you,

20. CNN has been infiltrated by Busheviks
So has damned near every major media outlet in Amerika.

Google "Operation Mockingbird" which undoubtedly provided the fertile groundwork to finish turning the Formerly Free Press into Corporate TV Pravda (of course, that doesn't include the Right-Wing Sub-Media, which is a propaganda machine and lie laundry, pure and simple).

8. CNN Coverage
Now, maybe I'm paranoid, and maybe not, but this gets me. When I go to the CNN website, I get the international edition. Currently on CNN international the headline is "Rumsfeld sees long slog in Iraq", buth when I go to CNN US Edition, the headline story is the Florida right-to-die case, with the Rumsfeld story in small print on the right. Surely with Rummy being a member of the US cabinet, this news would get at least as much coverage on the US site as the International one.
Is this a reflection of CNN editorial policy to soft-soap bad news for the home audience? This is about the fifth similar incident this week. Coincidence?

9. That's because the protests are too graphic for GOP eyes
Find photos here. Each country the chimp has visited has its own creative way of protesting. I

16. That's par for the course with CNN
Especially since they shut down live coverage of the 01/17/03 Anti-War Demonstrations in NYC. From noon to about 6:00 PM that day, you would have never know anything was going on in NYC or anywhere else for that matter. Just goes to show how controlled our 'free press' really is.

Anyway, from the looks of this pic, it seems like Australia had a good turn out of protesters to greet the pResident.

A giant skeleton shrouded in black towers over demonstrators assembled at Sydney's Town Hall before protestors marched through city streets October 22, 2003. Anti-U.S. protesters took to the streets of Australia's main cities on Wednesday in carnival-like demonstrations ahead of a visit by U.S. President George W. Bush to thank the country for its help in the war on terror. REUTERS/Will Burgess
