Clark on "Partial-Birth" Abortion Bill
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 05:39 PM by DoveTurnedHawk
Clark also is becoming more confident, more decisive and more energetic on the campaign trail. Asked whether he would sign the Senate’s ban on late-term abortions, he said without hesitation: “I’d veto it.”

In their haste to paint Clark as a conservative, many people forget that Clark is pro-choice, pro-affirmative action and pro-environment. Those are three areas where Clark is unquestionably light years ahead of Bush.

3. Every single candidate said they are against this ban
even the "DINO", Lieberman. :eyes: At least Lieberman never praised Bush and his administration.

7. For your enjoyment
"After Clark called it a day to rest his throat, a reporter doubled back on Clark’s path down Main Street to ask the shopkeepers the candidate had visited if they were troubled that he had spoken highly of Bush in years past.

To a person, they said no. "After Sept. 11, everyone was ready to stand behind the president," said Alla Vatalaro, owner of the Narcissus II hair-design shop. "He was probably thinking the same way other Americans were thinking."

12. Good to hear,
but Clark's comments came before Sept. 11...in May 2001, correct?

I don't have a problem with his comments; they were probably just a goodwill gesture to the new administration. As long as he stays on message from here on out, he'll probably be fine. Kind of hard for Republicans to beat him up for saying something nice about Republicans, huh? (Which is not to say that Democrats won't.)

4. Excellent news
Glad to hear Clark supports women's rights, unlike the current occupant...

6. Partial Birth

I'm not sure the dyanmics of it, but there should be a clause that protects the life of the mother. I believe this bill discounts the rights of the mother in favor of the unborn baby.

The procedure itself as a form of birth control IS...IS...an abomination.

Did you see this:

If Bush's weak spot is older voters, Clark seems to appeal more to older voters (a recent poll in California showed (as I recall) about a 10+ point increase in 51 and over - could be a good opening.

9. Kudos to Clark! I never thought that Clark was as conservative
as some, perhaps many, of his DU supporters seem to be.

10. I don't think most Clark supporters on DU are conservative
IMHO they're just pissed off at all the shit peddled about their candidate!

That said, I wish Clark would have released an official statement on his web site, as both Kerry and Dean did. But I don't demand perfection.

13. Thank YOU!
I was hoping he'd make a statement about it, but honestly I was sort of holding my breath. It's not uncommon at all for even the staunchest Pro-choice people to be taken in by the PL propaganda. It's good to know Gen. Clark isn't among them.:-)

I really do love the man, just FTR. I'm just convinced we need someone who is a lot more radical than he is right now to undo Bush's damage. It's been tough for me since he came in, to be honest.

Now I can't wait to hear the Deanies spin it into "The real Wes Clark: Mommy killer" threads or some variation of that.
