Loans to Iraq
I've heard a lot of Democrats want to have us send money to Iraq in the form of loans, which at first sounded pretty good. We won't have to pay that much for the war after all! Yay! The peasants rejoice. But then I thought about it...and I come to the conclusion that these loans aren't optional, so we're actually making the Iraqis pay for OUR war!!! Why would we want to do that? The Iraqis didn't ask for liberation, why should they be stuck paying for it?

Any thoughts?

1. Your right on that score. However, it's just magic.
They want the loans in so they can talk to Russia and France about forgiving their loans - $120 billion - which we now owe since we invaded Iraq. Plan is to forgive $1 of our "loans" for each dollar they forgive. The taxpayer is stuck again. Another nice thing about the loans - they don't show up on the budget and therefore in the deficiet for next year. They taxpayer is fooled again.
