ABC News covered the Hallibirton oil pricing tonight.
They said Halliburton is charging about 80% more than other suppliers. They also interviewed Waxman and spoke about their no-bid contract which cannot be scrutinized because the entire contract is classified. They also mentioned that Halliburton charged $86 for $14 sheets of plywood in Bosnia.

All in all, great coverage for the minute or so devoted to the subject.

The rest of the Democrats need to start supporting Waxman on this.

3. It goes without saying that getting rid of Bush would be a lot easier

if we had the mainstream media on our side. We've been looking for ways to fight back, including hoping that Gore's networks will be up and running in time. Now maybe we don't have to. They aided and abetted Georgie in being his media filter, then he turns around and publicly humilates them for it. Well, two can't play that game--something that the GOP seems to habitually forget. And by the way, Georgie, I don't think the regional media appreciated your implication that they were too dumb or inexperienced to do their jobs properly!

4. ABC WNT was slamming W&Co. all over the place
"Most of the world still sees him (W) as a man of war".

This price gouging story should be shouted from the rooftops.

5. Is it me
or is the network news breaking from the Republican goose-step and including more anti-Administration stories? I had completely turned off all news except local because of the non-stop pro-* reporting. Lately, however, I've been tuning in intermittently to the network news and it seems that I'm seeing much more anti-* reporting than I used to. Unfortunately, I believe cable "news" is lost forever.

6. Much too intermittent to be called real reporting, IMHO.
If they opened even ONE eye, they would see the worms of corruption that are eating us up.

7. CBS news has
been doing a good job reporting on Iraq lately. No more "good news" stories.

It's the only television news I watch.

8. Imagine if our jello-spined
"leaders" were a little more like Waxman. I'd bet most of the crap that has gone on the last 3 years wouldn't have. We could use MANY more fighters like him, unfortunately without any support from the "opposition" this outrage (like SO many others) will simply disappear.

9. this had a direct effect on me...
My wife & I were planning to build our dream home recently (well, have one built for us - I'd be in trouble if it involved more than hammering a few nails) - only at the last minute the builder came back to us and said that due to the rising cost of wood (it was all being shipped to Iraq, apparently), that they had to raise the price by almost 10%... and, 10% on houses in CT is a lot of money.

12. My friend went to a styrofoam concrete
construction when the war talk started escalating last year. He knew what was coming. He built his barn first, bought all the wood he expected to use before the war. He's not as dumb as he looks. He designed the house himself. It is a modified saltbox design.

Next year an observatory will be built to house a 20" dobsonian tele.

Hardly a National Security issue unless someone in the White House were profiteering from it.
