US Congress votes themselves another pay raise in middle of bad economy
I am very upset about this! If any of the other candidates running for office voted themselves a pay raise I will never vote for them. This is such a stab in the back of the American people.

Ted Stevens from Alaska:

"said it was a mistake to call it a pay raise, and that lawmakers were merely receiving a cost-of-living increase being given to other federal workers and military personnel.

"This increase is required by law," he said."

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/23/senate.raises.ap/index.html

Required by law that Congress gets a pay increase will millions lose pay and benifiets including the soldiers dying in Iraq because of invisable weapons they lied about?

Humm. . . Maybe Senator Stevens should talk to some of the top people involved with these laws, perhaps he should talk to people like himself and the 99 other people around him.

Get out you mumbling fool. You blame the law when it is yourself that made the stupid law.

Mike

1. Excuse me
I am a state worker and we haven't even gotten a cost of living raise in three years.

2. But it is the law!
It is the law that Federal Workers get pay raises like the fat cats in Washington. They don't care about the state workers. They pay for the pay increases for federal employees by cutting their benifiets.

5. Fruitless effort
Senate voted against his bill by a 2/3 vote.

6. I'm in favor of people getting pay raises, but not when others must suffer
Whatever happened to everyone must share the pain? Apparently only the poor have to share the pain. As Clinton said, the rich have to put out all that energy to open the envelope containing their tax rebate check.

7. Geesh...
Whenever I see something regarding Congress, I feel like I'm driving by an accident scene.

- Its going to be gory, but something inside you says "watch"
- After the facts start to materialize, there's a shrill that says, "nothing to see here, move along"

Who know what Congress? Why don't you just shoot me now, save some more money for your "cost-of-living" increase and buy yourself another Jaguar, you &%(*&%(*.

Cost of living increase...$3,300 raise for them! I got a quarter this year!

Oh yeah, that's right, I work in a non-profit for the disabled...I'm just stealing from the American people...I shouldn't get raise...I'm very happy I even have a job...

I'm sorry for he rant, I now need a drink...

NOTE:
My wife's cousin, fighting in Iraq, comes home for 10 days tomorrow to see his newborn son. I'm going to shake his hand, thank him for serving our country and leave. I want so bad to talk to him about what's going on over there, but I don't want to waste the little time he has with his son to talk to me about hell...

8. Teachers in Alaska are on strike because they have not received a COL
increase for five years. Stevens is an Alaskan Senator.

9. No, he is a Repug Senator
He doesn't care about the people of Alaska anymore than the current Governor cares to have someone that is qualified to take his former seat in Senate.

Alaska has no Senators.
