1. Chalk up another supporter of the PATRIOT Act
Edwards said that PATRIOT had a lot of good provisions and that it needed some minor tweeking. Edwards has joined Biden and Feinstein in their John Ahscroft booster club!

Swine!

2. Watch for the guy that comes right after Edwards. Pretty good
comments about Bush's and Rumsfeld's policies.

4. Edwards has a strong position on civil liberties.
He would change the provisions that are restrictive of civil liberties. Not everything in the Act is. I do think it should be sunsetted.

5. PATRIOT Act should be repealed in its entirety
and Edwards is wrong in his lukewarm endorsement of it. What's wrong with these people? Are they incapable of admitting that they made a mistake in voting for PATRIOT and the Iraq War Resolution? Do they think they look more "manly" by refusing to admit an error in judgment? This is the equivalent of refusing to stop and ask for directions, even after everyone in the car recognizes that the driver is lost!

On a more positive note, Edwards is one of the sponsors of S. 1705, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2003. I wonder if he will be AWOL when ENDA comes up for a vote...

10. If he isn't, will you apologize for your constant vilification?
Seriously, you have an obvious targeted dislike for the man, but will you at least correct your prejudice when proved wrong?

14. Edwards was AWOL on the "partial-birth" abortion ban bill
as he was AWOL on the mini-nukes bill earlier.

15. It was a foregone conclusion, and he publicly sided against it
I've responded in two different threads about this; he's not ducking the issue of late-term abortion. On Hardball and in other interviews, he's flatly stated that he's against the ban unless it has language in there to protect the life of the mother. He's running for office, and he's dividing his time in ways he feels most effective. If it's important for you that he symbolically show up for doomed votes when he's gone on record with his positions, then at least express it as such instead of some kind of betrayal of all that's good and pure.

Have you responded to any of this?

6. Who DIDN'T vote for it the first time?
at least he is opposing the sequel.

7. Can this guy spell R-E-P-E-A-L?
We want PATRIOT repealed in its entirety. Anything less than total repeal will perpetuate this infringement on our civil liberties for generations to come.

8. I watched. You lie.
He spent MUCH more time time arguing about what was wrong with the Patriot Act than what parts of it he might want to keep.

I really, really hate "black or white" thinking.

9. Murder and genocide are "black and white"
and so is the Bill of Rights. Perhaps you are comfortable living in a country with less freedoms, and with a more intrusive federal government. I am not, and neither are millions of other Americans!

There is no compromise on certain issues: war and peace, liberty or slavery.

Which do you choose? There is no such thing as a middle ground...

12. So is sanctimoniousness, and it has no place in politics either.
Do you, like Junior, "not do nuance"?

There absolutely IS middle ground, and to not see it is shortsighted and generally tinged with narcissism.

Refresh my memory: who's the White Knight of your current fervor?

13. I reject the concept of white knights, and knighthood entirely
I do expect our politicians to show some core values when it comes to ethical and moral issues, or which war is one of them.

3. Could you please confirm what I heard in the program about
Bush's counter-terrorism policy? The guy gave the administration a resounding failing grade, in my opinion.
