LAS VEGAS - California Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger showed he still has a soft spot for body building, popping in unexpectedly at the Mr. Olympia contest to congratulate its winner.

Himself a seven-time Mr. Olympia, Schwarzenegger drew cheers and chants of "Arnold" and "Governator" from the crowd of 6,000 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel-Casino.

... "Finally I feel at home again," Schwarzenegger told the estimated 6,000 spectators. "This is a terrific sport and if it wouldn't have been for bodybuilding I wouldn't have any of this. It's a great foundation."

What, exactly, would you have him do? He's not the current governor. There is not a thing that he can do to help right now and if he went anywhere near the scene of the disaster it would not only amount to useless grandstanding, an undercutting of the authority of the current governor (for which he would most certainly be pilloried on DU and elsewhere) and, most importantly, would only cause trouble for the police, fire and other emergency services that have better things to do right now than to deal with the security issues and logistics inherent in an appearance like that.

So, what are you "aghing" for?

at least he is showing a little bit of respect to Davis by not butting in and letting Davis tend to HIS job. Davis is still Governor and it would be very tacky of the groper to jump the gun and interfer where he has no authority yet, I'm surprised he has that much class.

He's not there because he's a fucking narcissist and can't stand to share the spotlight with anyone or ANYTHING. Even a horrible thing like this fire is likely viewed by Arnie as stealing his face time.

He'd rather be getting a woody in Las Vegas looking at HUNK BOYS. His last gasp attempt to rearrange his narcissistic mirror and gaze longingly at what he once was.

I'm giving him to much credit. The groper is to much of a neanderthal to have respect or class, he thinks with his "little arnie" and lets that be his guide but I'm still glad that his ass grabbing hands are out of state, wish he would never come back. :mad:

21. How about studying the budget
and figuring how we're going to pay for this emergency. How about going to DC and start lobbying for federal help. That would be tremendously helpful while Davis deals with the problem here. How about going to Sacto and trying to learn how the emergency response system works. How about calling other Governor's and ask for help.

There is lots a Governor elect should be doing to help in this situation.

Reports are that Arnie looked pretty sober after his meeting on the budget. The poor guy probably just needed to rest his poor, overworked brain after that session...

celebrity obsessed idiots who voted for him. No, that would show to much class. Where's Maria now? She says she supports women then why not go to some of the shelters and give aid and comfort to all the women in them. They are both evil and despicable.
