http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-3313365,00.html

An Al Rasheed maintenance worker, he was asked whether he now feared staying in his house, situated between the firing point and the hotel.

``Every place in Baghdad is dangerous now that the Americans are here,'' he said.

......In his brief morning statement, Wolfowitz spoke of ``even bigger news'' than the hotel attack - the growing number of Iraqis being trained and equipped ``and going out on patrols, fighting these criminals.''

........bigger news indeed. You're living in a fantasy land.

1. Wolfie made this statement while -
- hunkering down at a nearby "safe Place" after a rocket barrage that was most likely aimed at him.

Hard to make such a confident speech while looking over your shoulder constantly. Maybe Wolfie understands a little better what 150,000 or our young men and women are dealing with every day.

6. It kind of reminded me of Baghdad Bob
Contrast:

Baghdad Bob
There are no American troops in Baghdad. They are all evil dogs and we shall kill them and they will be humiliated.

Wolfowitz
Everything is fine. We are making progress. There are no problems here, move along.

2. It just amazes me how afraid the media is.
All the Bushies have to do is complain that the media is not giving out enough good news, and they rush to try to find some to report. It is embarrassing how the media are just another branch of the government.

3. It's amazing
here is a group of highly educated, supposedly bright and intelligent people, stupidly sticking to the "plan"--the talking points laid out for them by someone equally as stupid or even more stupid. They do not have the ability to shift their thinking to fit an event they did not foresee. They seem to have no problem solving abilities at all--just stubbornly stick to the same talking point that was, at one time effective, so you can appear to look as though you are on top of things--Wolfowitz, Rice, Powell -- fearful robots---why look what we have accomplished---even the "good" Iraqis themselves are hunting down their own!!!!( the " bad" Iraqis):puke:

-Wolfowitz, in his zeal to be loyal to Bush's stupid talking points just invited more suicide attacks--this occupation and the way it is being botched daily is beginning more and more to look like a criminal act.

4. Good news!
The good news is that SH, over the span of twenty years or so, killed at least a hundred thousand Iraqis and the US, so far, has killed less than he did.

Some places in Iraq now have electricity restored! Not all, mind you... just some.

Gas is only $1.50 a gallon in Iraq... if you can get it.

Not all the buildings in Baghdad were destroyed or damaged in the shock and awe campaign!

Only a few thousand museum pieces have been lost to robbers!

America has only sacrificed 345 soldiers, and 100 billion dollars, while the numbers could have been much higher!

America is training former SH supporters to become the 'New' police and estimates are that it only cost us 35 thousand dollars each!

That's about it for the good news, back to you, Dan.

5. I heard NPR report that gas was 10 cents a gallon under Saddam
The Iraqis will pay Halliburton's 'fair market prices' now. Iraqis are irate over this.
