Bush-Induced Depression
I think I have it.

Of course, we're all angry and disgusted with this criminal administration, but I'm experiencing medical symptoms of depression that I truly believe are the result of BushCo policies and their effect on this country and the world. Can anyone else relate to this?

Note: This is not a cry for help. I will deal with this in a rational way, but, man, what a bummer time we're living in. When will some degree of happiness return?

I am certain the number of people being treated for depression has risen under this administration.

take a ride in a small plane with a Democratic politiician.

Seriously, you're not alone. I'm constantly depressed and much more short-tempered than I used to be.

5. It comes and goes.
One afternoon last week I dealt with it simply by walking it off. A nice cool breeze, Fall colours. Fifteen minutes and a few deep breaths later, I felt a lot better.

There have been a lot of low lows the past three years watching this surreal spectacle, and I'm not even American. "Bush-induced depression" is undoubtedly a global disorder. But I feel especially for those you south of the border.

9. the sources: anger that can't be directed constructively, helplessness ..
A feeling that you're riding on a train that's heading toward a precipice and you can't get off ...... you can't even talk to the driver ... half the people on the train are making fun of you for KNOWING that you're headed for the precipice .... You can shout and scream as much as you want, but the train just keeps going ...

And you just can't believe that you've ended up on this train.

It's seriously like a bad dream

Sick of war and violence and BushCo reaming the planet every day? Only one thing you can really do

By Mark Morford

Everyone wants to know what they can do to counteract.

Everyone wants to know how they can join the revolt and punch a hole in the toxic BushCo bubble and deflect the bloated dumbed-down Wal-Mart-ization of the culture, and resist being soaked all the way through to the bone with the sad notion that this country really is jammed to the blindly patriotic gills with misguided terrified fools and simpletons and gun nuts, drunk on rabid GOP spin and Adam Sandler movies and generic Paxil.

This is what I get asked, all the time: What can I do? How can I fight this poisonous miasma of hate and violence and hollow BushCo smirks? Is this country really this blind? What has happened to us? Should I move to Canada? What the hell is wrong with Celine Dion?

~snip~

And, indeed, it can seem relentless, the onslaught, the toxic stew, reducing you to bitterness and hopelessness, making you ask impossible questions of Fate and the universe, such as, Why George Plimpton and Edward Said and John Ritter and not, say, Karl Rove or John Ashcroft or that guy I read about who beats his dogs? Is that too much to ask?

~snip~

It is enough to make you weep. It is enough to drive you to savage depression and shirt-rending angst and Leonard Cohen on infinite repeat without knowing why. And so you ask, what the hell can I do?

I humbly submit, here is the first part of the answer: You sift. You filter. You refine your awareness and stay very attuned and educated, yet choose what you want to let in and what you want to reject and flush away as dangerous and scarring to your heart, and you work within your range of heat and breath and love. This is the only way. Take it all on and you will crumble and short circuit and implode.

`snip~

11. I can relate
and I believe someone has quoted statistics here which note that there are more suicides when repukes are in power.

It's the disconnect from reality which gets me...the lies which spew from everyone associated with Bush, combined with the TOTAL LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY by American media to the American people to tell the truth.

But there are good things, too. This is an opportunity to turn to other sources for information, to get an education about the lack of freedom of the press in this country, for instance, at least at the level of mainstream media, or maybe that could be better stated as their complicity in killing democracy.

maybe they should all be tried for attempted murder of uncle same and lady liberty.

it does not help AT ALL that the media and this administration have been so successful at manipulating the people of this country through fear.

I hate them all for this. I believe what they are doing fits the definition of psychological abuse. It is most defininately propaganda raised to the nth degree in this country.

For me, it's a constant question of whether or not this nation is my nation any longer, or whether I should simply opt out and go somewhere else where democracy is still honored.

I honestly don't know if I should stay here and pay taxes to a regime and for acts I consider criminal.

then I think the thing to do is stay and fight..but when our so-called representatives don't represent us, it's hard to know if it's worth the energy.

funny, I've been listening to a lot of Leonard Cohen lately...LOL. sad but true.

Everybody knows...

12. Im on Xanax
Its all I could DO to get thru the day worrying about my son...now Im not worrying as much but on top of the state of the world being in complete chaos, the dog died, I am just getting over Empty Nest syndrome, my mother filed for bankruptcy (shes 77), my sister lost her job to pay for 5 kids, and all the taxes went up here...
Its bad, very bad out there...I cant even imagine what its like to be the parent of a child who was murdered in Iraq for Bush's Oil buddies...on either side..
The world is a mess, and we can all thank the current resident in the WH for it. The most hated man on earth.
