Ultimate praise: Here's what Bill Moyers said about Jon Stewart...
...in the latest Buzzflash interview:

-snip-

MOYERS: I think Jon Stewart is the most astute political analyst working today. He has more moments of "Eureka" in a single broadcast than a month of editorials. Who else sets off laughter and light bulbs in your head at the same time? If I believed in reincarnation, I would believe Mark Twain alive and well.

1. High praise from the master.
Jon Stewart and Mark Twain. Old Sam Clemens would be proud to know Jon. Chip off the old block.

4. I don't have TV. Stewart makes me want to get it.
The handful of times I've seen the Daily Show has blown me away. I might just order up that ole demon cable.

10. One really funny thing:
A few years ago they ran an add:

Our polling indicates that 40% of our viewers list the Daily Show as their chief source of news. To those people, we would like to say: STOP DOING THAT!!!!"

But now, its the only source I feel I can trust.

16. I remember that butÉ

The sad truth is that all the reporters, networks and comedians have let
JR get away with everything.

11. Jon Stewart = Mary Poppins
He knows that a spoon full of sugar...

(I also have reason to believe that he
carries floor lamps around in a carpet bag.)

17. He ought to appear on The Daily Show
The LBJ stories alone are worth it.

I love the one where Moyers was praying at a meal and LBJ couldn't hear him. "Speak up!" LBJ barked. "I'm sorry, Mr. President," Moyers replied. "I wasn't addressing you, sir."

20. The mutual respect was obvious. Bill dealt with Jon as a serious satirist.
Superb discussion.

I believe that the transcripts are up at the PBS website
