Mama mia! Looks like a real dangerous character to me

Two U.S. Army soldiers, of Charlie company, 1-22 Infantry regiment, 4th Infantry Division, look inside the pockets of an unidentified Iraqi boy while patroling a street in Tikrit, 193 km (120 miles) north of Baghdad, Iraq, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003. (AP Photo/Ivan Sekretarev)

1. But. . . .but. .. .. . .but. ... . .
. .. .you can't be too cautious. You can't tell civilians from Viet Cong. They all look the same. And they use the children, too, to throw hand grenades and. . . .and. . . .and . . . .

. . . .oh, sorry, that was another war.

wasn't it???????

16. Since when..
..do children blow up buses instantly killing 20 people? I have yet to hear of anyone employing little children as suicide bombers. Could you give me an example of when a small child was used in this manner. The date it happened? Where it happened? How many people were killed? Most of the suicide bombers in Iraq seem to have been driving vehicles. This kid seems a bit to young for that sort of activity.

eh?

6. One of the lucky kids
At least he's still breathing and has all his limbs. Searches are a small price to pay I guess.

Thank Allah little Ali only has to be subjected to searches in order for us to usurp the Iraqi oil. It could be worse, we could just shoot him. Oy!

7. What on earth are they searching him for?
He's a little guy and his clothes are not loose...it's not as though he's wearing a trench coat and harboring a bomb...that does seem a bit extreme.

8. Before the "Blame Amerca First:" crowd gets here
what if that little boy had a weapon and then hurt the soldier? Would you still be outraged?

9. Nope.
They'd call him a freedom fighter and ask for more against our troops.

The streets of Iraq should be a safe, peaceful and joyful place for our occupying forces to roll their tanks through.

Anybody who disagrees with me hates freedom and loves terror.

13. It don't make any difference what any of us think about this jiacinto
How well do you think it plays in the Muslim world though? This photo has IDF written all over it. Do you think that is a good thing or something?

14. In fairness to the soldiers.
When they walk patrols, kids have come up to them and then when they have engaged the kids in conversation, the kids bolt and run and then the gunfire starts..

"Some" of the kids who approach are decoys.. Not most, not many, but SOME.. The need to be cautious..

Maybe this kid had something bulging in his pocket and they needed to know what it was..

17. Its not the soldiers we rail against...
The soldiers have no choice but to conduct these type of fascistic searches, because their lives are at stake if they don't. What the anger is focused at is that these soldiers have been put in that position.

21. What an awful posiiton we have placed our soldiers in....they can't trust
ANYONE...kids this age in Viet Nam, killed...and Im sure the soldiers have been warned about that.

I don't like what I see...but if I were in their shoes..I may do the same thing.

God help me, the USA and the planet.

15. Hey kid, got any candy..?
We sure are hungry.
Maybe some weed?

:silly:
This particular photo doesn't look so bad. Kid doesn't look too upset, and the soulders don't look like they are giving him too hard a time.. Probably a normal everyday occurance.

I understand the need to be careful, but still think we shouldn't be there in the first place.

I also know some will view this as "Evil nasty american troops terrorize innocent, helpless Iraqi kid", while others will see this as "evil nasty Iraqi kid terrorizes innocent , helpless american troops"... There have been terrible acts but also acts of great human kindness.
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.
