Powell, Still a "Good Man"
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 03:44 PM by Stevendsmith
Jesus, I'm still hearing this crock of shit. Even to many Bush detractors, Colin Powell is still regarded as a man of integrity, a statesman, a man who would make a good president, etc. Huh?

Are people just willfully stupid in this country? Is that the easier route?

Newsflash: Powell is a lying scoundrel in an administration of lying scoundrels.

Anyone remember the U.N. presentation--the one in which he LIED HIS ASS OFF?

Powell is a ranking member of BushCo. What more do you need to know?

Colin Powell should be "frog-marched" (love that term) out of the White House with the rest of the lying, criminal bastards.

What's the deal with his continuing popularity?

13. I like the way Boondocks characterized it
Grampa is watching the TV, which reportedly has Harry Belafonte being
interviewed, on the word balloon pointing to the TV "Belafonte" refers
to Colin Powell (iirc) as "One of the nicest Uncle Tom, Stepin Fetchit sell-outs I ever met."

16. Powell is a
man without a home and he doesn't even know it. I never thought he would take a position in shrubs cabinet. I told everyone that he would not accept any position, and was blowed away when he did. Why didn't he run himself for President instead of being the house flunkie for Bush. He is good alright that is "good for nothing".

2. What's the deal?

Probably a misplaced sense of fairness on the part of some of the public, I would guess. If Colin Powell had even a scintilla of the integrity he's reputed to have, you'd think he would have been out of this corrupt administration months, if not years, ago. Instead, he keeps grinning and nodding, standing behind the Idiot in Chief, and lending a rapidly diminishing gravitas to a crazed pack of bloodthirsty greedheads.

The only conclusion that can be drawn is that Powell, too, is a crazed, bloodthirsty greedhead. Any decent human being would have been long gone by now.

4. You know....
Powell has the power to save this country. He could provide chapter and verse on the crimes of BushCo for the whole world to hear. In a single heroic act (I'm thinking press conference), he could blow the lid off the White House lies and crimes and thus begin a national (hell, global) cleansing process.

Ah, to dream....

5. Another buttress to my point
If Colin was truly the man of honor and integrity he's reputed to be, wouldn't he indeed expose such truly demonic evil? Instead, he continues to participate in corruption that he knows is killing people all over the world. His current paycheck depends on his cooperation, so he damn well makes sure he doesn't see the evil around him.

Powell has lost his soul or had it stolen from him. At this point, such a robbery would have to be classed as mere petty theft.

9. powell is a crucial player in the propaganda machine
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 05:39 PM by dudeness
in a tried and true method..almost as simplistic as "good cop ..bad cop" routine ..powell plays the role of the "voice of reason"..whilst we expect the hawks to advocate pre-emptive action..the likes of powell will progress the line of peaceful resolution without the slightest commitment to those processes..therefore when powell tells us "peace is not an option" we falsely assume that every stone has been overturned and military options are all that are left to "reasonable people"..

10. I stopped believing in Powell
a long time ago. Obviously he is being used and was used. I felt sorry for him for a while, but then, the man who goes along to get along, no matter how much damage it does to the human race, is as despicable as the frat boy wannabe president, Bush. No way no intergrity--Powell has nothing to be proud of--he will end his career and be a rich man--his son will also be set up to make large amounts of money in some career somewhere--and that is the final last bottom line for Powell, I am convinced that that is his long term goal, no matter how much American suffers. His wife--well she was reported at one time to suffer from clinical depression and we have not heard anything about her--nor have we seen her accompanying Colin anywhere--apparently she does have a conscience, because going along to get along with this administration means complicity in war crimes--and Powell is guilty.

His son, the young Duke, is head of the Imperial Communications Consortium.

He is a liar and fraud and, by his participation in Bushevik matters, an accessory to murder and other war crimes.

19. I wrote to Powell BEFORE he helped elect Bush, and
I urged him to follow the example of Moses, who could have been continued to be a big wig in Pharaoh's administration, but gave it all up to liberate his people.

Instead, Powell never even answered me and went with the corruption of the Greedy Old Party and helped elect and serve and get a very important position for his son to serve one of the WORST administration this country has seen! See the dismal http://www.LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/BushRecord .

20. Powell has sold his soul.
I really think Powell was a good guy going into this. I feel like Bush Co. has corrupted him. I want to give him a pass, btu I can't. If Colin knew that something was wrong, he should have resigned. Instead he went along with it. This makes him responsible.
