Republican gets elected VP of HS Young Dems

We had our first meeting about a month ago and elected officers. The kid the kids elected VP turned out to be a member of TARS (Teen Age Republicans) and a registered republican.

He didn't tell us, thought it was funny. But I didn't find out about it until yesterday. The faculty advisor for TARS knew two weeks ago but didn't bother to tell me. This is after he made a big stink about keeping communication open.

What pissed me off (oops -- can I say that in GD?) was that the kid and his friend were teasing one of our members saying that democrats were so stupid they'd fall for anything. I suggested she work in something about republican dirty tricks.

The advisor for TARS is going to talk to the kid.... yeah yeah yeah. But I'm plenty ticked off.

Sheesh -- they (the repugs) start them out young, don't they?

Lemme let you in on a little secret, TARS are more likely to be ROTC people, jocks perhaps, preps. Me I am just a middle guy, dress casually and the like. How did the kid register? BTW republicans arent too wise themselves, tell the little bugger that.

If I was you I would demand a meeting between you and both that advisor and the kid. Ask them how they would feel if you sent a kid to pretend he was a Republican. Ask them how they would feel. Point out the dishonesty and lack of respect for other people.

Get up and leave.

and that's exactly what's going to happen. The TARS advisor made a stink about communication and then ignores this? The rules aren't the same for them..... typical.

He/she might learn something from this.

We'll stand our ground. That will be a shock. For too long TARS has ruled the roost. This is the first year for the Young Dems. There are now two voices on campus.

Handle this in a way where he learns something and is forced to be challenge about his worldview.

I'm pretty diplomatic. I just blow off steam here.

If it does, this student probably wilfully violated it;
discipline might be in order.

I'm wondering if the vice presidency might mean more to him then his political affiliation with the repubs,given as young as he is. Any chance of truly turning this kid into a dem?

The next move is obvious. Learn from your mistake. Make sure you ask all the right questions BEFORE you vote.
