who remembers this thread?... about progressive's accomplishments

it went basically like this...

It was progressives/liberals that made women eligable to vote, consetrvatives opposed it.

It was the progressives that made it possible for workers to have decent wages, 40 hour work week and vacation time etc. conservatives opposed it.

it was a good essay with tons of points like these

If our rivers are getting cleaner and our air isn't black with pollution; if our wilderness is protected and our countryside is still green -- you can thank liberals.

Progressive innovations like those and so many others were achieved by long, difficult struggles against entrenched power. What defined conservatism, and conservatives, was their opposition to every one of those advances.

i need stuff like this for a speech i have to make for my finals....i need to persuade target group of 18 to 25 year olds to be democrats or vote democratic....why they should be democrats.
