DU Fantasy Footballers - The Draft is DONE
And I got McNabb

The rest of my team is ok, but I got McNabb.

btw, unlimited trades and waiver pickups. You have 2 weeks to lookover pre-season and figure out if there is a better player out there to pickup!

2. I didn't get Akers and Rossum
I should have put them higher on my draft. Rossum is the only defensive guy who can score 20pts on defense because he's mainly a kickoff returner.

But I'm keen on some of the people I got. I work with some fantasy football players who play for money and they gave me a few good recommendations with Onterio Smith and Derk Mason - got both of them. The rest we'll figure out.

I've already cleaned up my defense. Geez no one took Hugh Douglass? Hey, he may be an Eagles deserter, but he's a hell of a defensive player.

4. Bump for the morning crowd
Your teams are drafted. Now is the time to go in there and pick up players off the wavers who are still available and probably a hell of alot more talented then who was drafted for you.

I've found especially with defense there are still plenty of talented players available out there, but I've already picked up Hugh Douglas, Jason Taylor, Rosevelt Colven and Julius Peppers up off waivers.

You've got 2 weeks until your first game - go for it!

8. Oh, you got the choke artist Rich Gannon
I recall he let someone down in our playoffs last year by staying at home and letting his evil twin Skippy who can throw a football play instead.

10. Other Notes
It was unfortunately someone dropped out before I started the draft. I should have caught this but I was rushed at work and popped in there for 2 minutes to turn on the draft and then leave. This means that 2 teams in our league will NOT have bye weeks. The playoffs will be based on your W-L percentage and not who has the most wins. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes it turns out crappy. I wish we could do an expansion draft and bring one more person into the league - but we can't.

Also check your lineups. You'll almost have to do this on a weekly basis because you don't want your players bye weeks coming around and they are all your starters. I seem to have alot of Eagles on my team (hey, I'm an eagles fan!!!). I'll have to make sure on my bye week I swap them all out for players who are actually playing that week.

That's where your bench is important. And even though you don't have any defensive players on your bench, you are allowed to have a few to get you through your bye weeks.

16. Good luck
I love fantasy football, but I got out of it when every damn year one of my players would sprain his ass and be out for the rest of the year. Either that, or I'd end up with a running back like Barry Sanders that ran for tons of yards, yet got pulled in goal-line situations so the coach could have a fullback with no skills run the ball in from a yard away.

18. The Browns???!!!
That's great if you're planning on playing teams stocked with local high school players. But what's going to happen when you face a real football team filled with real players - like all the Eagles on my team! I mean you got Tommy Maddox for a QB!!!

All I can say to you and the rest of the DU Fantasy Football League: BRING IT ON!!!
