Du-er's, watch out for this internet email fraud

I just got this in my email, it is bogus. Never, ever respond to an email like this. Delete it, or report it to the FCC. (Mods, if this is worthy of latest breaking news, by all means move it there).

So much shit in my inbox these days, between mortgage offers, Rx spam, and penis enlargements, that I delete unless I know the sender. I don't even read the crap anymore. It will only get worse after the Do Not Call list takes effect in October, too.

this is like the "BestBuy" scam a coupla months ago.

Another one I got last week was telling me that they could "launder" money from my "Kiddie Porn Business" (WTF???)
and then later that day I got one from the same outfit telling me that they'd charged my credit card $400 and they need ed my bank acconut # so they could deposit it...Oh, they tried to tell me that they were contacting me because I "Obviously have a child pornography or other illegal on-line business"...

S'Yeah, right. I don't even like "Hot Asian Teens"...

Things must be getting tight in Nigeria, what with Taylor and his entourage eating them out of house and home...

But, just look for the colon after the citigroup address--it's intended to reroute the mail to obtain an account number illegitimately.

I got one on the money laundering, as well, but it was only for $264.... just dump `em all.

Funny thing--most of this spam is playing on the half of one percent who are too stupid to recognize what's going on, but they're willing to broadcast to a hundred million people just to snare the few--those idiots make it profitable.

If the feds would just write simple opt-in legislation for spam, this problem would disappear. But, the bulk advertisers would scream, and they contribute to campaigns, too.

About 40% of my email on a typical day is spam. Reports are that the percentage is going to increase in the next year or two. The independent ISPs are likely screaming for legislation, but aren't being heard. After all, they have to process all this junk.

To hell with Saddam--if the feds put a few Hellfire missiles into spammers' operations, they'd save this country billions of dollars in unnecessary added capacity to handle the traffic.
