Confession: I saw "Freaky Friday" and thought it was pretty good.
SPOILER WARNING: Stop reading if you want to be "surpised."
(Obligatory disclaimer. You probably already know or don't care how the movie turns out. And there's nothing surprising in the movie anyway.)
I usually hate Disney movies. I usually hate teen angst movies. I usually hate movies where parents and children who misunderstand each other reconcile in time for the big happy ending. But my wife and I took our daughter to see "Freaky Friday" this weekend, and it was pretty darn good. A lot better than any of the supremely lame trailers promise their product to be. If you liked Clueless, you might like Freaky Friday more than you thought you would. And the main reason for seeing the movie is: Jamie Lee Curtis. She's incredibly funny!
There are a lot of touches in the movie that more than make up for the lack of originality in remaking a movie of a book with a cute premise but an ultimately trite message.
